According to the radio the guy has contacted Gilly and agreed to return the ball provided its put on public display

Say you wish to hand it back, in a few week's time, for no cost and no reward.

Invite all your mates around on Boxing Day, for a backyard Test match, and play with the ball. Huge bragging rights there.

Then hand it over.
