I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't heard it with my own ears, Bill Lawry just said that the Gabba's the 'best wicket in Australia'!

Woh!!! No MCG?

Same Negative Crap from the Touring Side.

WIN The Toss and Send Australia into Bat.

When in the Hell is a Touring side going to come to Australia and Be POSITVE and get on the Front Foot and win the toss and BAT 1st ?????????????

Time and Time again we see the tourists win the toss and use the excuse to field 1st (there was a green tinge and a bit of moisture in the pitch) only to see the Aussies Rack up 500+ and presto, GAME OVER.

Most sides don't even try to walk the walk against the Aussies any more. South Africa talked it up a few summers back, and were thoroughly smacked. I think most sides seem to think, 'don't upset the Aussies, and hope for the best if you're still in it by day four'.

In footy terms, people keep giving us the wind to kick with.

By the way, all the news ltd cricket writers have been locked out of the Test match due to an accreditation dispute with Cricket Australia. Reading might be a bit thin tomorrow.

Both captains would have bowled this morning. I dont have any problems with Jayawardenes decision.

Phil Jaques has faced 27 balls and is yet to get of the mark. Aus 0/15. Hayden with them all.

Another piece of pearler commentary from Chappeli: "Ferando's problem in the past has been 'no balls'."

you are dead right any skipper would have bowled first today. Sri Lanka probably have the bowling attack to trouble Aus at home. Fernando likes to hit the deck hard and has had successful tours in the past in both forms

Cricket Aust been punching on with the foreign news agences for a while. Just an enormous step though to take the fight to the Australian media and lock out news ltd. Run a huge risk of seeing cricket stories disappear a long way into the sports pages (if they run at all), as well as seeing the front part of the papers devoted to people caning the organisation for free speech restrictions etc. The lobbying behind the scenes today in the media world could be more intense than the action on the field. Be interesting how much cricket copy, and where it is, is in tomorrow's 'Tiser, Herald Sun, Telegraph, Courier Mail and Australian.

Can't wait to see it!

As for media battles (albeit on a smaller scale), there would've been some pretty heavy negotiations going on between WIN and Channel 9 so that country SA viewers in the Riverland and Mt Gambier regions could get the cricket. Both those stations are now taking a Seven feed following a fall out between Nine and WIN. Nine decided to play hard ball on the cricket...so the negotiations were only completed early this week.

Thank goodness, there'd have been uproar here and in the Mount.

Lunch Break 0/22

Some strange decisions by the Sri Lankan captain, having a deep gulley and deep square leg while Jaques still on 0.

Hayden 15
Jaques 7

50 run partnership between Jaques and Hayden.

0/52.

Fernando has been warned for running on the wicket. He is bowling rubbish as well.
