There love affair with Tim Paine continues for another season!

Or after having a stint in WA they know Triffit is home in Tassie to stay. So rather than paying him a base contract they can offer it to someone else to increase their depth in other areas and only pay him matchies (if selected)
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Seems to be a common theme that you are more likely to get a contract on potential in order to keep you around than be rewarded and backed in when a veteran.

The same applies at lower levels. Many not willing to earn their stripes and looking for an easy option/opportunity elsewhere than display traits such as commitment and persistence to get where you want to go.

Just like building an innings, sometimes it's better to bide your time and get the rewards that come with it later. Clearly this is not SACA's policy, which is no surprise.

Really good, brave calls to move on Cooper and Cosgrove. With Ferguson under an injury cloud that is a VERY young batting line up we'll be going in with. Great to see - backing our younger local products in.

Hopefully this means lots of opportunities for Weatherald, Smith and if they're good enough Page, Gregory, Dalton.

Good time to be a young South Australian cricketer and I don't think we could have said that for a long time.

Just thinking we are starting to get our championship winning underage players into senior ranks. Hopefully that means we can push for more success.

Contracts announced.

Having what looks like 3 guys in the national underage setup looks promising.

Who is Patrick page and what does he do?

Patrick Page Jr is a left hand bat that single handly held South Australia together in the national underage championships 2 years ago......think it was in the under 17's in Hobart he scored a hundred when the rest of the team couldn't get 50 between them......

You have to keep your talent here, even if they arent ready, otherwise someone will snap them up. Its the nature of the beast. You will find Cossie, while not contracted will train and most likely play with the SACAs next year, trigger a contract and all is well. We keep our kids, develop them in the HP program and still have the expereinced blokes playing and if not performing give the kids a go.

Also its common knowledge that state cricket associations pay Grade Clubs to 'home' quality players and keep them in the state for depth.

Junior is a 360 degree batter, classy and has that extra time at the crease which good bats have. Hits the ball hard for a little fella as well. Can see him succeeding in all formats of the game

also toured with the Australian Under 19's and made 99 in the final Youth ODI match of the tour. Would have went to the World Cup too if Australia didn't pull the team out from the competition for security reasons

Some great moves by the SACA's, no longer just handing out free contracts to the older statesmen, if they are prepared to work hard they can still get back in. Thats a good young list choc full of talent.

one would assume Cooper would still feature in our one day campaign? Hopefully we get to play at Adelaide Oval too this year. They could share the tournament with us (Adelaide Oval/Bay Oval) and Victoria for a change.
The death penalty can never be excused as it allows a state a means by which it can pick and choose who is fit to live and who isnt

I don't know what Cooper is going to do, will he be able to force his way back into the side?

When they upgrade AO2 it might be viable to hold the tournament here

And they're pumping money into railways(? opposite HQ ? ) aren't they? I was under the belief they were going to begin using that more for second XI games?
