SA look likely to beat PA in a small run chase

LOOKed at the link but still dunno the equation[ is it calculated by the PCT , if so OZ are leading IN at this stage]
SA qualify for the World Final at Lords In June
So what's the equation for OZ to qualify ?
SA have qualified.

According to the articles and this may also play into why Australia are looking to bat India out of the game, but India need 3 wins over Australia to qualify, q draw here would potentially snuff them out as long as we don't **** up massively in Sri Lanka.

If India won both the MCG and SCG test they would be home, even if we rolled SL 2 -0.

Wow puts perspective on why OZ didnt declare perhaps ???
So the question is
Is there more creedence on winning the series v India or qualifying for the world final against South Africa ?

IF Australia bat on and on Day 5 it 'might' be a pity
An early wicket would open this match up to a degree
At this stage IN look unlikely to win- no matter how long OZ bat

Why is it that the cricket media only talk about 3 options of a result today??
I thought there was 4???

I think Australia's mindset is that in a perfect world would be to play a few shots this morning score another 20 runs in about 20 minutes (4-5 overs) and then declare essentially setting India 350 of 90 overs.

India will definitely fancy that initially..... especially with their batting depth.

I'm going to back India in today, haven't seen enough in the pitch just yet to suggest its going to be impossible to bat on and if it wasn't for Bumrah i think we would be talking about a game with Australia scoring 550 in the first innings, India 369, then Australia probably closer to 300 in the second innings.

Apparently not, it seems that way to you and I but being ranked #1 test cricket nation holds more prestige.

It seems ridiculous considering who South Africa have played and they got comprehensively beaten 2-0 by the shaggers in February.

The loss against the Windies was certainly a costly one for us.

Yes, I can see the concern the Aussies have, the scars from Stokes @ Headingly still wouldn't have healed and 330 @ 3.4 and over isn't impossible, not when 300 is a par score nowadays for an ODI.

Can still be ranked #1 and not win a one off test like the WTC.
Perhaps the WTC should be a 5 match series.
The cricket fixture / WTC makes the AFL look like an even playing field

Yeah India have a real nice blend in their batting line up as well.

Rahul, Kohli, Sundar to anchor the innings throughout.

Jaiswal, Rohit, Pant, Jadeja, Reddy to be the aggressors.

Even if the pitch starts to turn a bit the Indians will be ok with that. What would get them is the uneven bounce from the pacemen but haven't seen much of that. The new ball will be critical, apart from Bumrah it's been a new ball wicket. If India are 0/50 after 15 overs watch out.

Perhaps ALL series should be at least 3 tests and perhaps it should be a level playing field.

We haven't been to South Africa since Sandpapergate back in 2018. (We had Renshaw, Burns, Hanscomb, 2x Marsh & Sayers....they all combined for a total of 110 across both innings' between them.....that was largely to a 42 from Burns in the 2nd).

We haven't been to the West Indies since 2015, Bangladesh in 2017 (We played one pace bowler and it was the last time we played them).

We'll see what happens, in the post match press conference and a post match interview yesterday on Fox Labuschagne said there was a continual lack of bounce that was making it difficult for the batters to go with the continual seam movement that we have seen throughout the match.

He also talked about why they didn't declare.

Only three times this year have the Aussie batsmen made 40 or better in both innings. Two in this test, Marinus and Cummins and Marnus again in the first test in Sydney.

Without checking I would think Travis would have the biggest disparity in innings totals in the same match.

Bumrah seems like a quality bloke, I love watching the banter he has with the non-striker, the smile, the respect he shows and the way he just goes back and serves it up again with relentless determination and effort.
