keep saying its our hitting that will win us this world cup, and we go from 5-228 in the 39th over to 7-342 after 49.4. great hitting from maxwell, finch, haddin.

any maxwell haters going to put their hand up and say that he could be the most important player in the aussie side? he may not contribute in some games, but can sure as hell win one by himself.

Looks like the game is in ye sub continent with that sponsorship on the oval, and the extra advertising fence between the boundary rope and the oval fence

I will put up my hand and say Maxwell isnt our most imporatant. Job was already done by time he came to the crease. The guys at the top are our most important

4-216 (and 5-228) is job done? hardly.

we were looking at 280-300 which would have been definitely winnable for england and maxwell and haddin batted england out of the game

5/228[38.1] when Bailey was out
Had Maxwell got out we would have struggled to get to 300
Instead he scored 66 off 40 balls in his ODI World Cup debut
That innings may well decide this game

I think the estimates without Maxwell are a bit low, but no doubt when he fires he boosts the score by 20-30 compared to what someone else would have. Lots of guys can bat up the top and do comparable jobs. Very few guys can come in and strike at 150+ regularly over the course of 10 overs. I do think he's our most important player but more for his bowling and fielding. Saves runs and take catches to change the game but if he bowls well we can afford to not play Doherty and either have Marsh's batting or Hazlewood/Cummins for their bowling (Faulkner comes into one of those spots IMHO).

Against this mob yes!
Poms batting line up is second rate.
No way on earth was 280-300 winnable for this mob.
All well and good to score at that rate when you are 5/220, see how he goes at 5/50. Hence why the top order are our most important IMO. If our top 4 score heavily we win the Cup
