one thing i will say is we were all giving smith shit for not being up to it, and they stuck with him and he has turned it around massively. not saying doolan will do the same, just that it seems someone has faith in him to do the same

That's true, I think if they're going to stick with Doolan he'll have to start showing some more attacking prowess if he'll be a permanent number three test match batsman IMO.

Odds for the 2nd Test

PA $4-50 [Palmerbet]
DR $2-85 [Centrebet]
AU $2-30 [Sportsbet]

Good bet PA , particularly if they win the toss and bat first
AU $2-30 , maybe they are favorites because the bookies know that Glen Maxwell will be selected !

How we go in as favorite when we just got smashed in the same conditions is beyond me.

Pakis at very good value. Even they would bet on themselves.

Hear this from me
The most recent batting problems in this series are the next 2 batters after the openers

Good call mal. Despite Rogers not being comfortable against spin the dude has clearly done his job. He has occupied the crease and etched out some crucial runs. It's not his fault Doolan can't hit the ball and Clarke is injured. Now Clarke may or may not be better for the 'run' but Doolan is dead set average and I'd even have Hughes in ahead of him and you know my thoughts about him. It might even be time for the Big Show but walking wicket Doolan MUST go.

******* useless he is Young Jedi.

regards,

starc and maxwell in for doolan and okeefe, push smith to number 3?

maxwell at 5 and marsh at 6 starts to look a bit thin though

Starc and Maxwell are good inclusions as both play spin well
But with the ball, Starc may struggle on a non bouncy deck , and Maxwell struggles on most decks most times when bowling

Not sure the BIG SHOW is a genuine test cricketer though
But it WILL most likely be great entertainment watching him in this test match

It would be great to see Warner and Maxwell in a BIG partnership

Maxwell seems to do alright with the bat in the shield digging Victoria out of the shit!

I dont think Stac will come in, they will want a left/right bowling combo you would think.
Maxwell for O'Keefe does strengthen our batting.

it is much easier to temper your aggression than it is to find the middle of the bat in the first place, warner pretty clearly showed that, hopefully maxwell can too

The Glen

First class batting
48 innings
41.64 ave
155* best score
75.80 strike rate !

Thats a decent enough average batting in FC cricket
Certainly better than a b grader he has been called by a fellow Redlegian !

16:05 Hi and welcome to coverage of today's Second Test between Pakistan and Australia. The news is that Australia have announced two changes to their eleven. Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc come in for Alex Doolan and Steve O'Keefe

Our batting looks thin IMO

A year or two ago, who'd have thought we'd be looking at Warner and Smith thinking, "thank god we've got them in the line-up to add depth to our batting"?

Another Northern Hemisphere non bouncing pitch
PA 0/11 [4]
AU already in strife, IF the pitch turns later
IF PA are 4/219 at stumps that will do this time, they are 1-0 up

Betfair odds
PA $3-45
AU $2-98
DR $2-64
