I am wondering what those who wanted SA to declare overnight are feeling now? As it is, the declaration made wasn't tough enough.

Still would of declared overnight, still would of lost the game. I like positive cricket, yeah we lost, but i didn't think we were going to base our bowling attack around our new bowling allrounder Cosgrove. No point playing for a draw in the position S.A is in, Hodge too good again.

If they lose to SA it wont matter we are bottom
Cant give them 288 of 96 overs
After TAIT and GILLESPIE we have this attack
R HARRIS yet to take p/c wickets
BAILEY emerging spinner but lacks experience in tight games
COSGROVE he bowls dunno why
D HARRIS is next
Very skinny attack indeed[well most of them ]
We had them 2/7 then 4/281 declared first dig.

BAT ON

Thats why SOOTERS we had no depth.
And birdbrains are obsessed with bowling COSGROVE

For those critical of Elliott's role as captain or his place in the team, who could be captain with Lehmann out? Perhaps Gillespie or Dan Harris? I wonder if the Redbacks decide to go for a young captain next year with Lehmann his deputy, much like what Hookesy did when he gave the captaincy to White at 21 y.o. Might be a smart move to ensure our post-boof days aren't too painful.

At last, some common sense thinking on this forum. I was beginning to think it was a lost art. The ideal choice as Redbacks skipper next season would have been Cameron Borgas, but his injury has set back his progress a little. A young captain is a great idea, but the last thing we need is a skipper still struggling with his own place in the team.

I would move heaven and earth to bring Dan Marsh back to SA as Redbacks skipper for the next 2 seasons. Trouble is, Dan has this propensity for loyalty, and the Redbacks never gave him the chances he deserved.

I am really at a loss how SA's decision to bat on didn't promote "positive cricket". Declarations are about setting a target for the opposition that they will have to take a few risks to achieve and hopefully lose wickets in the attempt.

To set 288 from 96 overs would have seen Victoria just cruise for the whole day and coast to a comfortable win. I fail to see where that would have been more "positive" than what happened yesterday.

Bloody Redbacks. The Blues now have to settle for second spot on the table, which we will lose after WA finishes off the Bulls at the Gabba.

After due consideration I have come up with my man of the match.
Victoria won the game so had to concentrate on the winning team
Hussey with an imperialist 133 odd first dig and 42 2nd dig was considered
Hodge an unbeaten 100 first dig and 80 odd 2nd dig was a star throughout
Finally the best contributor for Victoria was Elliott 9 + 3 and his captaincy and MOTM.
