The season is shot
So
I'm almost hoping Evan Gulbis makes a double ton
A feat, not ever done in the SS comp batting from 8 ?

The question has to be asked
Why was Travis Head dropped from this team ?
Is this the way to treat a 20 year old ?

Head scored 51 + 92 in Perth against Mitchell Johnson
In the press he stated along the lines that MJ bowled well, and if he bowled like that against the Poms he would succeed

After the 3 nineties I was thinking , could this guy be a possible Test player ?
Now he cant make the team
At least 2 other guys who have been selected b4 him in this game should consider themselves fortunate

Unfortunately another northern suburbs boy who won't be given a golden ticket like our boy ferg

Maybe it will come back to bite us on the arse like the last two boys from the good have done!! ;)

Not sure why the cheap shot at Ferg. He was originally Prospect - so northern suburbs as well! They persisted and he is paying them back now with plenty of runs. I'm sure Cosgrove and Harris would have done the same had they been managed properly and the fact they are plying their trade elsewhere is now costing the Redbacks big time. This is not just a hindsight thing neither.

It is good that the likes of Sayers and Putland are making every post a winner, but there is still an element of leaning towards interstate recruits instead of backing our own. Klinger, Hughes, Botha and Ludeman have proven successful, but the rest haven't done any better than the locals would have.

It is disappointing they didn't back Head for the remainder of the season. Him and Smith are the next Cosgrove/Ferguson - Lehmann/Blewett coming through. Lets hope they back in Head and Smith as they have Ferguson (and not Cosgrove) as the rewards will come.

It's funny Mal u brang Head up this week.

I played last week and again this week against alot of his mates at Craigmore CC and apparently he feels pretty hard done by and is open to offers with no real commitment to have to stay in Adelaide for

You COULD compare Travis Head with the late great Clem Hill
Trav made 3 nineties in a row earlier this season in the SS
Clem , arguably the greatest left hander to play for SA , made 3 nineties in a row in Test matches

With all due respect, i'm a big fan of Head, but half you blokes had him on the outer the last two games in your fantasy side selection anyway - opting instead to persist with Raph and bat Hughes at 3..

.. now the Redbacks have fallen over in a heap and you are quizzing the omission of Head.. you cant have your cake and eat it too

Ok sorry, should've explained that a little bit clearer and included that in your originial post. It came across as though he had sour grapes of the past two games!

And yes, i know there are always reasons for moving, it's never an easy decision

From what others said I get the feeling his a young kid who has come through the national underage system, is averaging a very respectable 40 odd this season, and can't get a game at a time the test batting order isn't settled and could be looking around for a couple of guys in the next 12 months. Also having been part of the squad while other have not been dropped for a lot less builds alot of frustration.

What a crock of shit. Truth is that since the Shield stopped for the BBL Travis Head has lost momentum with his technique for batting in First Class cricket. His scores have showed that.

He is young and will learn to transition between formats as he gains experience. I saw Travis have a net session for nearly an hour last July in Worcester for the Ashes. He works extremely hard and needs to continue to do so.

Will be with the Vics within a year, they have a very old batting lineup which is definatly not suited to first class cricket

With a few retirements coming up they will have a huge bank account to offer.

The redbacks remind me of the English sides through the 80's-90's it's just all about technique, doesn't matter whether you can score runs or not

Lucky Warner, Smith, Haddin weren't born in SA, they would playing div5 para districts
