THE PRESS COMMENTS on the WI

This test summer should be cancelled and all tickets refunded

The Windies are so embarrasing and bad that Bangladesh would probably provide Austalia wth more competition

Now the West Indies are so pathetic there key issue is now how on earth can anybody be expected to maintain interest in in this dog earned series for two more Tests. And the 5 one dayers
That is potentailly 15 days of cricket, imagine watching SK play ML 15 days in a row

Give them 2 tests and 3 one dayers

They sleep a lot but are not big on exercise

Its a long way to the top of the world-our tip is that they will never get anywhere near it again

Gayle warning : Youre starting to look foolish

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Some of the comments are warranted
But I disagree with some of this critisicism
For starters a lot of Test countries get smashed first test at the Gabba, West Indies the latest
Yes they were comperhensively beaten, but there are some good things to take out of the game
ROACH looks a menacing fast bowler who impressed despite the lack of wickets
DOWLIN did enough to suggest he might be OK
BARATH was sensational
RAMDIN batted and kept well
TAYLOR getting injured meant they were a strike bowler short
BENN bowled ok and batted well for a tailender

Those 6 guys are the future
GAYLE, SARWAN ,CHANDERPAUL, BRAVO are talented enough

There is plenty of potential in the WI line up
They took the Aussies on, bowled aggressively for most part of, the batsman played shots, but the fielding was deplorable

This current WI side will improve
Getting flogged or losing at the Gabba is something most countries have experienced for a long time now

The doomsday pressman are having a field day now, but the WI will rise again and be a formidable foe

Just finished reading the Mail and the garbage and criticism written about about the Windies is completely over the top and is simply journalism sensationalism at its best.

Agree Mal - see the thread I started - we must have been posting at the same time.
Although I questioned the efforts of some of there more experienced players.
And of course, the stupid f*cking boards that give these players one four day game leading up to the tests.

They will prob lose this series 3-0, but it wont be boring
Theres enough talent in the line up to suggest they will be a handful at times

They will never be a good Test team with Chris Gayle in the side let alone as Captain. Doesn't work hard enough and doesn't even like Test Cricket. Give him his way and let him play the shorter version of the game and let someone with some fight lead the squad. Imagine a guy with his stroke making ability getting out letting one go? Soft cricketer.

The guys who they banked on serious runs from (Gayle, Chanderpaul, Bravo and possibly even Nash) didn't fire a shot.
If, as expected they did, the scenario would be much more favourable for the Windies and the match would have at least gone to 4 days.
Some of the stuff in the press today is a joke. And we're meant to be promoting the game. With the media writing garbage like that of course test cricket (or at least this series) is doomed.

The genius who gave them 1 x 4 day game as a lead up should be culled. WTF?
They need at least 3 games preparation otherwise they have no chance of acclimitising in time.

When was the last time any touring team had three or four warm up games prior to the first test of a series? You can thank the shorter form(s) of cricket for the reduction in proper preparation, proper tests, and therefore proper cricket.

Locky
I would rather watch a 3 day game with the bowlers getting bounce
then a 5 day tar pitch which produces draws and runfests

Major flaw in the scheduling for mine. Having the third and fourth days on the weekend is plain stupid IMO. The day of most interest to me is day 1 and that should be the Saturday, drawing the bet crowd in the meantime. If we're playing Sth Af or England or India fair enough, but having the first day being a Thursday is craziness from a financial perspective.

Surely Barath should get it.
Why does it have to go to a player of the winning team ?
The lads a youngster and hits a hundred on debut in a team that was spanked.

Who is the fool who selected the MoTM ?

You DO NOT give MOTM to a player on a side that lost by an innings. Ridiculous.

Smithy, Barath was no where near the most influential player on the ground!
Him scoring a second innings 100 and losing the game by an innings shows that he was not MOTM IMO. HILF was deserving, altho Hauritz could have also ben deserving with a pretty good all round performance!
yes barath batted extremely well, but suggesting he gets MOTM is not taking a look at the overall picture of the match situation

It's ridiculous.
