What's worse is they've delayed the start of the coverage of the Pageant!
It began an hour or so before the coverage began...

Punter sends them in again, very good decision.

Lee didn't bowl much today and will still be well rested, Clarke and Johnson haven't bowled in a while too.

We all know that Murali is closing in on the Test match wicket taking record, but his time IN Australia has not been that much fun for him, although it has been many years and he is a better bowler now, but his test matches up to and inlcuding the first innings in Brisbane have yeilded the grand total of

10/670 *this is greatly helped by his 3/55 when playing for the rest of the world.

Will he improve this record during this tour, especially with the prospect of bowling only once to the Aussies in each test if the Sri Lankan batting does not come together?

Doubtful

Well ask Marvin about there problems. He allegedglly refered to the selectors as jokers and Muppets.

Also the Sri Lanken team is hurt by the fact that Sangakara is out at the moment. Still there batting is built around Jarsyruia smaking them about with Sangakara steadying and other providing mere support.
As for bowler wise. Well Vaas is the magor strike weapon and has been for years but hes slowing down and not the bowler he once was. Then Murli comes on the take a good 4 - 5 wickets. Perhaps a little bit 1 dimensional.

Went down to the test yesterday with the better half and my lad a couple of friends. Scammed some free parking down the road from the Gabba which was a good start to the day and attempted to eat something that was passed off as a hash brown at the Kangaroo Point Maccas where a young ice maiden entertained us all with a drug induced dance into a waiting ambulance here. You get your ambo rides for free in Qld which I found out one night after five or six too many tecquilas at a work do.

We got to our first row seats and this bloke sticks a camera in my son's face and he's on JUMBO VISION at the Gabba which was a fun way for him to start his 'debut' test. The cricket finally gets under way and it soon clear that the Lankans are fighting way out of their weight division. By lunch we've seen the debut man get a scalp and the Lankans had struggled to 5/123.

After lunch the snoozefest began. I got scammed 20 bucks for three cornettos and a salad and tried to drown my sorrows but 5.70 for a cup of light was a sobering experience. My son wanted a HOWZAT flag so out came the moths again and REB's down another rock lobster. Then Attapatu blocked his way into our hearts. You could have heard a pin drop at the Gabba at times during that middle session as we all dozed off in a mass slumber. Everyone started to watch the yobbos play with their beach balls and booing those nasty old policemen who were clearly there only to stop everyone's fun. A good thing about the Gabba is that mos of the ground is covered in shade soon after lunch and the locals are awake to this (at least, they are when Attapatu isn't batting) as the 'sunny side' of the crowd was deserted until about 4pm when a bunch of Sri Lankans gathered to wave their flags and try to revive their heroes who were floundering out in the middle.

Roy can do no wrong at the Gabba. Despite throwing the ball at Gilly's feet and over his head all day long everything he did was greated by a gutteral roar and his two wickets brought the house down. In the second dig after the Lankans were dismissed Jayasuriaya brought the game and the day back to life when he smashed Lee all over the park but Leeroy did get a nice sconning in of Attapatu. When Lee came to field in front of us I yelled out 'Hey Lee, I asked for two scones, you only gave us one' which was acknowledged with a nod and a grin from the Aussie firebrand.

All in all a good day but it looks like I'd better start saving for next year.

regards,

REB
