Lost a fair bit of time to weather.
Fielding was a disgrace though, worst Australian fielding side in many years

Was this just due to a lack of real hot weather?
Was this done on purpose to protect the series win?
Is it just the nature of drop in pitches?

Dare i say at least Adelaide breaks up and provides results ;)

Pathetic, ultra cautious declaration..Cricket is about entertaining the spectators.
Spectators want to see their team WIN.
Ultra cautious declarations like this one do nothing to promote the game.
Neither does the road of a pitch.
Mal will be ecstatic about drawing stumps 24 balls early with only 4 needed to win the match.
Calling early finishes when its still possible for a win to be obtained is paramount to MATCH FIXING !!
DISGRACE !!!!!!!! Punters who backed Aust for a win should be sending their losing tickets to Smith asking for a refund.
Not for the declaration but calling the game off early. Why is there even a rule that allows it?
Whilst a result other than a draw is possible , the game should be played till its conclusion.
Meaningless 4th Test coming up to go along with the meaningless Big Bash crap.
May as well bring on the footy season now.

As Harris said its all about winning the series

People aren't fussed whether you win 3-0, 4-0, people can get sacked with 2-2 draws

Agree about calling games off though, shouldn't be in the rules to do so

24 balls remaining
5th day pitch
Can still win

I can understand calling this game off with 3 balls left and 4 wickets to take
Why call it off FFS

If I hear the excuse being that the bowlers were rooted , I will be even more pissed off
if ALL bowlers were rooted get Rogers and Shaun Marsh to bowl 2 overs each
Who cares who bowls out, bowl the 24 balls and TRY AND WIN the match

So who is responsible for calling it off
Smith ?
Lehmann
Anyone else ?

Whoever it is they better have a decent excuse for calling it off

Smith seemed to call it off after Warner walked for the ball three quarters to the boundary

Smith was at first slip next to Haddin he may or may not have had input

Maybe, maybe not.
I bet everyone thought the same in 2008 before Clarke bowled that infamous final over where he took their last 3 wickets in 5 balls
India's last 3 couldnt make a run in grade cricket.

Thats what alot said a number of seasons ago and then Clarke got 3 wickets in an over, from memory same opposition.

Still look and take some positives, Rogers continues to get runs but needs to go on, Smith, nothing needs to be said, S. Marsh showed some class in the 2nd dig, would give the new fella another test at 3 and drop Watson to 6, our tail continues to wag and has probably won us the series.

Bowlers: Harris, how good is this guy, hopefully someone saved the DNA, Johnson, down on pace but thought he bowled very well today, he actually needs to forget about Kohli and just bowl, i think Kohli actually intimidates him, Hazelwood, learning and needs to stay, Lyon, didn't see him bowl alot this test due to work but most say he wasnt good, Watson, really like to see him bat 6 and bowl more.

Fielding: Terrible, missed catches, some very easy, missed runouts. one in particular very easy, noticed the fielding was bought up in the commentary with Clarke after the Indian 1st Innings, he was happy with Blewett, I'm not so sure, reckon they have dropped 20 to 30%

Agree with all that.

Fielding over both innings probably cost us the match. We just simply don't have a great fielding side with Smith, Warner, Johnson being the only world class acts in the field, Lyon is normally pretty good but really let himself down in the field this trst

Watson continues to be extremely handy with the ball and as you said I think he would better served batting at 6, with Burns going to 3. Watson bowling gives Johnson and Harris that invaluable extra half an hour break throughout the day

Could Rogers age simply make it extremely hard to play the real big innings considering it would take him 4-6 hours to knock the ton up

Rogers can play the sheet anchor role perfectly whilst the likes of Warner, Smith and Clarke (when fit) play their shots and keep the scoreboard ticking along

H Singh...... C Hussey B Clarke 7 [14]
R Singh...... LBW Clarke 0 [1]
I Sharma... C Hussey B Clarke 0[3]

Also in that innings
W Jaffer 0 [4]
Y Singh 0 [3]

Those 5 batsmen faced a total off 25 balls for the 5 wickets
Selective , picking out those 5 , but it did happen

4 wickets in 24 balls is improbable but not impossible
But still worth trying for it , surely

Dhoni escapes with a 24 not out
He had little to gain and much to lose if he gets out
Why not nail him and erode his confidence before the 4th test

First Class this year

7 wickets @ 45
130 runs @ 26

Has anyone been selected with worse numbers

Only thing I can think off is they think the pitch may spin and there simply is no other spinners bowling well in the country

More than likely won't play surely unless Lyon is actually injured.

Ponting has suggested it's to get him around the national team and playing elite cricket in preparation for the ODI WC

the people bitching about the draw actually realise we've won the series???

if we declared early and lost smith would have been smashed by everyone...

plenty of opportunities to win the test...

Play in place of Burns if a turner?
6.Haddin
7.Johnson
8.Agar
9.Harris
10.Lyon
11.Hazelwood

Or if Harris isnt fit will take his place, Burns moves to 3 Watson to 6?
