why give them an opening? surely we should be out to win the game, not just hand over 6 points and give the vics batting practice.

Vics will keep chasing even if they lose more wickets.

Why the hell haven't our best two bowlers bowled at all in the final session? Is Elliot throwing the game to help out his home state???

edit- it appears Tait is finally coming on now!

Dan Harris taken off for Tait... why not give Bailey a breather?

D Harris 0/9 off 6
yet Cosgrove bowls twice as many overs this innings
why not use Harris instead of Cossie?

great call by me, say Bailey is expensive and isn't taking wickets on a 4th day pitch and he now has 4/

i dont mind looking stupid if it helps SA push for an unlikely victory though... its a team game

Ryan Harris is bowling from the other end... WHY??? wheres Tait or Dizzy????

Those that criticised the declaration are being simplistic.

SA needed to provide an incentive for Vic to chase runs, and therefore give the SA bowlers the chance to take wickets. While I am not really confident that Elliot is the best skipper available (and I can't understand his bowling decisions), I am supportive of this declaration.

C'mon SA. Four more wickets!

The end is near
VI 6/299 WERE 6/274
KILINGER 68*
HARWOOD 11*
BAILEY 4/98 OFF 23.5 0VERS the investment is paying dividends
7 overs
23 runs

THE END is near ELLIOTTs captaincy

GEE THAT EXTRA 28 RUNS I ADVOCATED with a declaration at 350 would be handy
instead the openers crawled early to see TAIT + DIZZY off.

Dizzy finally gets an over and concedes just 1

he has 0/21 off 11 overs

why bowl Cosgrove and Ryan Harris before him?

run out, Harwood gone, we need Klinger out though desperately

3 wickets to go
10 runs to win
16 balls remaining

It is far too late. The run out got Klinger on strike, he gets two twos then a four. Just 2 runs from victory now.

**** off Elliot you hack. Give the game to your Victorian mates why dont ya.

another 4, game over, Tait got smashed at the end there

its time to sack Elliot
cant score runs, cant captain the team
we finally get into a good position in this game and that dud throws it away
i hope that prick stays in Melbourne

Mal,

I am wondering what those who wanted SA to declare overnight are feeling now? As it is, the declaration made wasn't tough enough.

We both said 350 minmum
VI took the gift
Some suggested declare at stumps with a lead of 288
They would have attempted any chase.....

VI 7/324
KLINGER 87*[118] great effort
BAILEY 25 OVERS 4/108 top effort

This sums it up in the 2nd dig
COSGROVE 13 OVERS 1/44
GILLESPIE 11 OVERS 0/21

The greatest nonrounder ever played for SA
CANT BAT
CANT FIELD
CANT RUN
CANT CATCH
CANT CAPTAIN

Is he playing on to recieve his contract $$$ ???
Why is he playing and proving an embarrasment for ?

I thought it was a reasonable declaration. The better team won. A good experience for the Redbacks and should learn plenty from the match. Good to see Bailey, Jason Borgas, Cameron and Ryan Harris all perform well.

For those critical of Elliott's role as captain or his place in the team, who could be captain with Lehmann out? Perhaps Gillespie or Dan Harris? I wonder if the Redbacks decide to go for a young captain next year with Lehmann his deputy, much like what Hookesy did when he gave the captaincy to White at 21 y.o. Might be a smart move to ensure our post-boof days aren't too painful.
