Nevill must play, the 'keeper isn't a part time position and I'd be surprised and disappointed if they went for Handscomb or Bancroft behind the stumps. FFS, we've all been bagging the job Wade has been doing and we're thinking a part timer might be the best option?

Told you so!
Also heard that this morning at the Shield match in Brisbane, Renshaw was taken out to the nets and given a lengthy going over by the Aussie quicks which would suggest he is in

Drats.

I hate having to hope we fail, I never used to be this way, I'd always be keen no matter who was in the side, even at different eras when Hookes, Siddons, Boof and Haydos were all overlooked despite their immaculate form at shield level.

It's pure frog shit now, mediocrity gets you a gig along with many chances.

Renshaw has to play. 6 Test innings on Australian soil at an average of 63. Stability at the top required. We are always going to pick an “all rounder” at 6 and it is not going to be another spinner.

Warner
Renshaw
Khawaja
Smith
Handscomb
Cartwright
Nevill
Starc
Cummins
Hazelwood
Lyon

I couldn’t fit a Marsh in.....but the selectors might.

There isn’t exactly anyone bashing the door down through weight of runs

People like bevan and Cox and Siddons would be pissed they weren’t born 20 years later

The way the season is set up now, and an increased focus on quick scoring and shorter formats, doubt we ever will see regular big seasons again.

Add on the Chappell obsession with picking U23 players with potential, unless you're churning out results prior to your 21st birthday, you're highly unlikely to get a look in.

Cartwheel has been trialed and failed, Renshaw averaging 11, Wade is garbage.

Cartwright has played two tests.

Only batted twice, for scores of 37 and 18

Is 25 years old and Averages 47.7 in first class cricket which is more than anyone in Australia except for smith and warner.

If that is tried and failed you are an incredibly harsh judge.

To be fair, 61% of his career shield runs (861) came last season, and this season he has 1x 50 and 2x ducks from his 5 knocks - hardly set the world alight.

Looks the most likely 11 there. Really excited that our pace attack is Starc, Hazelwood and Cummins. Its great that we can get these guys on the park.

Bancroft to bat 6. Keep Wade. Renshaw stays as opener.
