I believe that Cricket NSW has taken over Cricket ACT, so i'm not surprised at all, they would surely want to promote and grow the sport in ACT so it's worth their investment and time..

Isn't there an agreement between The ACT government and Cricket NSW that 1 shield match to be played in Canberra per year. This is the last year of this agreement.
