Adcock bowled the odd offie too didn't he? Wonder how their stats compare? If you lined up all state captains stats from last 20 years would these 2 finish a dead heat for bottom of the list?

Depends if Cam White has ever been skipper

Guys like Richardson and George with a bit of fitness and form could play Test Cricket in the near future
Im not so sure about Sayers, Mennie and Worrall though

I would have thought an attack of
Putland
George
Richardson
Would be the best if fit and available

There has to be a discipline problem with Dan Christian
He is too good not to play in the current team

Oh and one other thing why are we playing 2 offspinners on the Adelaide Oval FFS

2 spinners are playing becuase we have to play lyon as he is in the australian team, botha looked far more likely to get a wicket as soon as he came on than lyon did

re worrall, a lot of the runs scored of him were either edges through the slips/gully or drives through the vacant covers, when he satrted bowling he had 2 slips 2 gullies, and in his first over had a snick go through 3rd slip, then they changed it to 3 slips 1 gully and a edge went through the gully region - when you are bowling full outside off looking for edges you will get driven on a good batting surface, expecially when there wasnt a cover in place for a lot of his bowling. he could have easily a few early and important wickets with a bit of luck

lyon is a massive hinderance. maybe he should switch states if we are to keep botha as we cant play 6 batsmen 2 spinners and 2 quicks, unless Hughes Wicketkeeps and DC comes in

Probably a touch harsh on Sayer i would have thought, has take a truck load of weekets in this comp this year (i think in the top 3 or 4 in the comp) agree on playing Richardson in this game and when Putland is fit bring him in, Sayers has got 4/40 odd, always keeps it tight keeps it very tight and he has dismissed 4 top class batsman in Quinney, Rogers, Dussey and to a lesser extent Hastings. I think he has more than earnt his spot this season, cant say that for a lot of the players.

On a lighter note a few mates of mine will be there today making pests of themselves, that in itself would be worth going down to watch.

PICCACHU
I have to elaborate on my misleading 'friendly' description of the SA pace attack
Its 'friendly' because none of them are fast bowlers of the 140km + mould

You would not feel uncomfortable as a batsman facing this unit
The team probably needs a pacier striker of the George, Richardson and to a lesser extent a less pacier Putland ilk

Have to agree Chad Son Of Deano Sayers is doing exceptionally well at this level
The next level ?

MAYZ
Why does SA have to play 2 off spinners at the Adelaide Oval ?
Are we trying to win a Sheffield Shield or does SA have to appease ?
This we have to pick Botha the captain, or Lyon the Test spinner is not giving SA a balanced attack

Dont agree.
We should be doing everything to keep Lyon he is the current Aussie spinner.
Would rather we invest time into Lyon than a washed up hack import.
Botha has been good at the shorter forms but is clearly not shield standard.
When Lyon is not on international duties and we only need 1 spinner then Botha must sit out.

well I agree with what your saying in a sense that maybe botha is a hinderance. The combination of an international (part-time redback) spinner and a captain who is a spinner and balancing that with australian pitches. In summary, the situation is not ideal.

MAL I think Chad could possibly play at the next level with his ability to swing it, but time will tell how he continues to develop in the shield system. lets not forget Bird only bowls mid 130s although he bowls a 'heavier' ball.

George is a mid 130 bowler but his bounce is his strength and has to be at the top of his game ala a few years back to be considered a danger by first class batsmen - hence why he didnt bowl in that second innings mentioned in previous pages.

Richo and Putland have the ability to be our strike bowlers bowl 140 clicks and swing it. Their body is whats stopping them fulfill their potentional
