I'm thinking about going to the Strikers game next Tuesday at Adelaide Oval. What sort of crowds go to these games, is there likely to be plenty of tickets at the gate, or best to pre-purchase at Ticketek?

Might be best to prebook because the public area was sold out last game and had to turn people away despite the members area only being half full.

Bit of a scheduling blunder there - why would they program both a BBL match and the WTC on the same night

Would be bigger at SCG, unfortunately its at craphole stadium on a sub-standard surface.
Would be suprised if the crowd matched the Melbourne crowd, might get 30-35,000

Big Bash a Big Blunder ?

Postby Turbo » Sun Jan 08, 2012 7:36 pm

Was initially skeptical of this format for not being state team orientated. I find now that I really have enjoyed it due to there are games on foxtel nearly everyday. Its not pure cricket obviously but it is entertaining so I reckon not a blunder in my opinion.

BIG BASH BIG SUCCESS ?
20/20 viewing on Foxtel has doubled from last years format
CA was budgeting for about an average 165, 000 viewers ,the figure is now doubled to 330, 000+
TV networks budget for a 5% increase from year to year to be considered a successful increase [and they are getting about 50%]
Crowds have increased since last season
The highest crowd 40,227 at the Stars v Renegades game
Young people and women have embraced 20/20 cricket
There are a new generation of kids warming to 20/20
An astonishing 27,000+ rolled up to see Adelaide Strikers v Hobart Hurricanes

MRS BERRY + FAMILY
Darren Berry had this to say about his wife
"" My wife of 18 years endured my entire career and would rather watch paint dry than cricket, but the BBL has captured her
She was watching the Perth Scorchers game against the Melbourne Stars the other night and said 'how good is this '
The kids love all the fireworks, dancing and noise, so I have an instant measurement from my own family.""

STATE CROWDS
Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and Hobart are all drawing sell out crowds
But the downside is the Melbourne and Sydney franchises are trying to develop supporter bases

THE FUTURE
Who knows the novelty may wear off, and crowds drop off
It has superceded my expectations so far
Theres no doubt the public love this 4 hour package, its along the lines of footy, rugby+ soccer as a contest now
Considering the package, the lack of quality players, the unavailability of Test Players and current injured players, it has done very well
As for the future maybe the old farts like REB, Jackpot Jimmy, Booney , Adelaide Hawk and Dedja might embrace or even attend a game

Initially I wasn't sold on the franchise format, it is growing on me though, I wasn't real impressed with an interview fox had with Dan Christian the other night, he openly admitted that he had given some inside info on his regular team-mates to his part-time team-mates, it didn't wash well with me.
HOGG SHIELD DIVISION V WINNER 2018.

Question, my boss is a member & therefore entitled to the member guest passes for the BBL.
A) would I need to purchase an ordinary ticket & then use the guest pass to access the members area? or does it get me through the main gate?
B) do I need to walk into the members area with him? or if he was to print it out could he give it to me & i could wonder through whenever?

Cheers.

I'm not an idiot, just not sure how the whole thing works.

You have to buy a guest pass and walk in with the members, however Im not sure how strict they are with it and how they actually monitor it, you may well be able to do B.

Maybe worth a phone call to the SACA
