No excuse though 8 LB's makes me wonder was the ball moving all over the place or keeping very very low. Or just perhaps our batters were not up to it at all.

Just wondering though, world record for 8 LBW's in an innings, do we get some silverware for that one ;)

assume this was umpire joshua who is terrible - reading the commentary at least 3 of the lbws didnt look out and manou was given out caught when he didnt hit it (hartley didnt even appeal surelu that shoudl give the umpire a bit of a clue when not even the keeper goes up)

i think this may be the same joker of an ump that gave a couple of obvious decisions against us in teh ryobi match against wa at adelaide earlier in the season

NOT OUT
There is chat around that several batsmen were not out today, but given out
I saw 2 on the big screen today that were dubious
SlamCam Borgas, LBW, got one that looked highish and missing off
MANOU snicked the air, on screen it appeared he had missed the ball by a few inches[stood his ground for a while ]

Yes SA can quiver over some iffy decisions
But you gotta make your own luck
Not many batsman get given out LBW and Caught behind if the ball hits the middle of the bat

would not have mattered 2 hoots to the result.

DC 2 runs in his last 4 SS innings, not good enough even for the redbacks

Big call by Stampy with all the grade batsmen making mega runs against quality bowling...

Strongly disagree Stampy
If Hopes didnt get all the charity decisions today SA would prob have won
FLOROS + BOYCE were the back up bowlers, and at this stage of thier careers they are average lollypop bowlers

Im not saying it would of made a differance. Just pointing out that people will blame everyone else but the guys out the park, always looking for excuses. If you use your bat and dont pad up to balls you take one decision away from the umps. Today was a disgrace and the sad bit is we are constantly finding new ways of being embarassing

The only one who wasnt out was George and I loved the look on his face when the ump put the finger up. It just about summed up the jellbacks day

So we're good at 20/20.

But we're shizen at defending.

Why don't we treat a run chase, or even a defence when the total is unachievable as a 20/20. What have we got to lose?

We get bowled out in the last dig time and time again. Defending isn't working for us, so why not, in the first 15 overs, have a real red hot go. If it works, it'll send fielders back into either regulation positions, or defensive positions. If it doesn't work, well we're the same as if we'd defended, but maybe have a few more runs.

Always got to try to win. Just going the flay in the first 15 overs hasn't led to too many wins in 4-5 day cricket over the years.

Not saying we shouldn't try to win. Our method in NOT trying to win is costing us outrights.

For many years, SACA had the attitude that 8/310 on day 1 was better than 2/260.
Favell, Chappelli, Hookes, Lehmann all had that.
Never won a heap of shields but at least the lads were trying to win and made a go of things.

Not sure when it went out the window

Probably around the time we lost the ability to bat through a whole day.

Unless we really think we're about to revolutionise cricket by flaying the attack for 100 overs, the only way forward is to try to keep improving at playing the game as those who win play it. Patience and controlled aggression has always been the way, we need to just find 11 guys who can do that better than the 11 guys on the other team. Right now we just don't have the cattle. All the coaches, team changes and hard work won't replace that. I think we've probably got enough natural talent floating around junior cricket to get some top level shield and test cricketers, just got to develop them properly from 15-20.
