We get bowled out in the last dig time and time again. Defending isn't working for us, so why not, in the first 15 overs, have a real red hot go. If it works, it'll send fielders back into either regulation positions, or defensive positions. If it doesn't work, well we're the same as if we'd defended, but maybe have a few more runs.
Always got to try to win. Just going the flay in the first 15 overs hasn't led to too many wins in 4-5 day cricket over the years.
Not saying we shouldn't try to win. Our method in NOT trying to win is costing us outrights.
For many years, SACA had the attitude that 8/310 on day 1 was better than 2/260.
Favell, Chappelli, Hookes, Lehmann all had that.
Never won a heap of shields but at least the lads were trying to win and made a go of things.
Not sure when it went out the window
