It's amazing isn't it? Batsmen failing all season, they've been stuffing around selecting no hopers like Doherty, and here's a batsman with genuine talent and obviously in form, and it takes an injury to Ponting from the select him. Seriously, the selectors have been as much a part of this Ashes defeat as the players.

You'd have him in the side on his comedy alone

Ponting only passed 25 once this series - the dead 2nd innings at the gabba in the 1st test, Khawaja does it from first crack :D

Disappointing again from Watson, again he got a start and did all the hard work only to get out in the 40's. We really need our openers to start hitting 100's, can't recall the last time one of our openers did hit 100, think it was a while ago. Not sure if it is a concentration thing with him or what but surely it is a concern

I've always considered Watson to be better suited to a position lower in the order for Australia, perhaps even as low as 6. The efforts he has made as a make-shift opener have been very good, but IMHO if we had two players prove they are capable of handling the opening spots, Watson would drop down the order.

Watching these clips from the 30s and 40s its amazing to see how far the game has come along, how much its changed including the general etiquette.
Cant imagine too many sides singing "he's a jolly good fellow" and giving 3 cheers to an opposition player these days!
