I'm also really concerned that Ponting would open up the day's bowling with Watson and White. That's just plain silly. Come on Punter, you're smarter than that.

47 runs off 8 overs this morning. poor bowling or aggresive batting? i think India are batting agressive to try and be 500 in front before declaring and sending us in for a testing period of 20 minutes before tea.

I'm not sure he is. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Punter fan and he's a good skipper, but every now and then he can pull out a real howler of a decision.

Good captaining by Ponting
The Indians will declare 450-500 in front no whatter what
So why not rest your best bowlers and wait for the next test

Using our best bowlers to keep the runrate down might give us a few less overs to bat out to save the Test. Can't afford to go 1-0 down in India IMO.

Brett Lee is extremely fit these days and should be able to cope, anyway. Not to mention this is the first Test series the Aussies have played in a while.

You can always tell when the frontrunners are winning
Last night they chatted LEE/WATTO
Today SHEWAG is mouthing off to PONTING
Whats new !

And whaddabout the chatter to come on day 5 on a wearing pitch
I can hear Dhoni with his woooheee call behind the stumps everytime the ball hits a millimetre off the centre of the bat.

1st wicket down Siddle gets it. Dhoni and Gambir are both in.

NZ are about to start the chase for victory and they will need 317.

Good. Now would be a good time for the 'captain' to follow suit.

No sign of Lee, not sure if he's on the field or injured...?

Split the webbing of the small finger and the ring finger yesterday or the day before.

Nasty, didn't hear about that.

Punter should bring himself on to roll the arm over. 8)

No longer needed thanks to his missus (ex)...

When will a declaration come? India are effectively 1/414 at the moment and Dhoni has bought himself in at first drop to boost the run rate.

Would they have a runs figure in mind, or would they be working towards more of a time figure - there is another 15 minutes before lunch, then another 2 sessions and a whole day yet to come, plenty of time for the Aussies to chase down 450 +

If I were captain of India, I would try to bat through until just after tea, aggressivley as possible.

I agree with you on this. His captaincy has improved a lot but he is still prone to the occasional loss of common sense.
