Former internationals Hamish Marshall and Ed Joyce have been named in Ireland's 17-man squad for their upcoming tour to India. Marshall, the former New Zealand batsman, is included for the first time, while Ed Joyce is back in an Ireland squad after trying his hand with England. Joyce last played for Ireland in the ICC Trophy final against Scotland in July 2005.

Both players don't become eligible to play for Ireland in official ODIs until April next year, but Ireland have asked the ICC for a special dispensation to allow both to take part in the World Cup which starts next February - a decision on their participation is expected from the ICC soon.

Opener Tamim Iqbal, who has recovered from a wrist surgery that kept him out of the historic New Zealand series win, has been included in Bangladesh's 20-member preliminary squad for the ODI series against Zimbabwe.

Mashrafe Mortaza, who hobbled out of the New Zealand ODIs with an injury in the opening game, is also back in the side. In Mortaza's absence, Shakib Al Hasan took over captaincy and led the side to a 4-0 victory, but if fit, Mortaza is expected to reclaim the leadership role. Mohammad Ashraful's stuttering international career was given another lease of life as he too found a place in the squad, which will be pruned following a training camp from October 31.

Preliminary squad: Shakib-Al-Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Shahriar Nafees, Junaid Siddique, Raqibul Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Abdur Razzak, Shafiul Islam, Rubel Hossain, Suhrawadi Shuvo, Naeem Islam, Jahurul Islam, Syed Rasel, Nazmul Hossain, Mohammad Ashraful, Shahadat Hossain, Shuvagoto Hom

Grant Flower, who has returned to a player/coach role with Zimbabwe after calling time on his career with Essex, believes the country's tabled return to Test cricket next year is coming at the right time. "You just never know if you're not given the opportunity, and I think next year is the right call," Flower told ESPNcricinfo. "It's time to start that process again."

"I'm not sure [if Zimbabwe are ready for Tests], is the honest answer," he said. "But we didn't know if we'd be ready originally, when we were first given Test status. People wrote us off then, and our first class structure then wasn't as good as it is now.

"It was either we sink or swim, to grab a cliché, and we just had to get on with it. We didn't have much depth, but we did alright with it. We got a Test victory probably quicker than any other nation, from what I can re-call. Certainly New Zealand and Bangladesh."

2nd ODI

Pakistan 289 for 9 (Razzaq 109*, Afridi 49, Alam 48) beat South Africa 286 for 8 (Ingram 100, Amla 65, Duminy 54) by one wicket

There are match-winning centuries and there are Match-winning Centuries. You will travel far and wide, maybe even go back in time, but you will struggle to find a more remarkable game-stealing hundred than the one the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi saw tonight. An outrageous 72-ball 109 from Abdul Razzaq dragged Pakistan to a series-levelling target of 287 against South Africa, one ball and one wicket left.

Makhaya Ntini, the South Africa fast bowler, has announced his retirement from international cricket but will continue representing domestic sides. Ntini will be given a farewell during the Twenty20 international between South Africa and India at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on January 9, when he will make his final appearance for South Africa.

Not really much of a surprise..but even get farewell games in cricket now (albeit a T20)

4th ODI (Series 2-2)

Pakistan 275 for 9 (Younis 73, Hafeez 42) beat South Africa 274 for 6 (Smith 92) by one wicket

A classic one-day series will have a deciding encounter after Pakistan produced another nerve-jangling run chase in Dubai to clinch a second one-wicket victory in the space of two matches with one ball to spare. Zulqarnain Haider struck the winning run after just about managing to keep his head as everyone else lost theirs, and South Africa will be left to wonder how they let another match slip away.

When Morne Morkel removed Abdul Razzaq in the 47th over, having also bagged Younis Khan for a measured 73, the game, and the series, was in South Africa's grasp with Pakistan needing 31 off 23 balls, but again their bowling and fielding couldn't cope under pressure. Graeme Smith, back leading the side after missing two matches with a hand injury, spilled a tough chance from Wahab Riaz and then Dale Steyn, who was playing his first international of the season, conceded 12 off the 48th over as two short balls were pulled past short fine-leg.
