However that decisions in the end had to be made, honestly didn’t look like making a score.

I guess the question is…..what’s his weapon??!

Other than being patient and waiting for a bad ball how was he going to score. Not sure that cuts it these days at test level. There just isn’t the bad balls, bowlers are fresher than ever before, most teams have five bowlers so shorter spells, they’re fitter then ever before, practise more than ever before and captains set more creative fields than ever before. All the best batsmen around the world at the moment are attack first and they have at least one shot that is world class.

Yeah, it looked like at times he was unsure how to score, however he was put in some difficult situations:
second innings at Perth,
first innings in Adelaide, which he came through,
second innings in Brisbane when it seemed the team was confused on how to go about their batting.
He was looking all right those 13 overs on the first day at Brisbane, like he was trying to keep things ticking over by pushing the odd single and maybe getting a bit more comfortable in how to go about it.

While he was slow over 6 innings, Green at the beginning was just as slow over a lot longer period and he was batting at six. I'm still not convinced Green has worked out how to pace a Test innings.

I would go with:
Usi
Harris - limited but in Australia he's more chance of making a start than getting out early
Lab - he has the ability to turn it around
Smith
Head
McSweeney
Carey
bowlers pick themselves
Marsh is just not consistent enough for a top six batsman. Fabulous when he plays that occasional innings, but he's not Mitchell Johnson batting at 8.

After the Ashes next year, our batting line up needs to be:
??
??
Lab
McSweeney
Green
Head (going well at the moment, but will be getting on a bit by then)
Carey

Yep you lost me at Harris.

I reckon I'm more convinced now, than at the start of the summer, that McSweeney will make it at Test level.

I also think it is a decent decision by the selectors to give Konstas a go at the expense of McSweeney. Australia will be better off in the short term future, having had both players have a taste against the best, this summer.

McSweeney's best chance back in to the Australian side is still probably in that opening position. I doubt Khawaja makes it to the next Australian summer and might call it stumps after Sydney or this WTC cycle? Green comes back in for Marsh I suspect. Labuschagne will be given every chance to perform as they will not want three inexperienced players at the top of the order for The Ashes, but if he falters, that opens the door for Bancroft/Harris/Renshaw, who would probably be fighting for one opening spot, with McSweeney to 3.

Interesting times as Pat Cummins team gradually sheds the experience for youth, both with bat and ball.

We need a bone dry track that will go 5 days, we have always been the best team in the world on wickets that offer little assistance to the quicks. Our quicks find a way more than any other, other nations turn their toes up when they get a bit flat.
If India have to bowl 130 overs thats 100 overs of bowling that we can go at 4/over.

Can anyone recall a bigger bunch of wankers than this current Indian team? Absolutely insufferable.

Konstas confirmed to debut on Boxing Day and Boland confirmed to replace Hazlewood but Head is under a injury cloud, Andrew McDonald said he picked up a quad strain in the third test.

And to no surprise Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the series despite recovering from a heel injury that required surgery.

What did the selectors say about Head? And when?

I only heard/read Cummins in his post Brisbane test match press conference and then Head himself say despite being a bit sore Head will be fine for Melbourne.

Who's coming in if Head can't play? Surely Webster and Mitch Marsh aren't both playing?
