That contract list is a joke. Basically a "white ball" list, don't give a crap about the Test players. So many average cricketers who can play 20/20 a bit get a full contract, makes me fume

Tend to agree with you, there is only 4 Test batsman contracted plus maybe Alex Carey as the 5th.
But on the other hand she's going to be red hot for those extra 2 Test batting spots.
12 points and they get a contract anyway which is 3 Tests. Maybe theres something in that. Those other 2 spots get 2 Tests to prove theyre up to it and CA dont have to contract them if theyre not. Might not be such a bad thing since we dont know who they are. Likely that Pucovski and Head/Carey will get 1st crack imo

I think you are spot on there Daisy, they want to put pressure on players to perform and not hide behind a large contract, play enough games and end up with full contract anyway.
Saves CA money in the long run too. If you get upgraded during the summer they only pay the contract rate pro rata until the end of the contract period.

Good call guys - agree with all of the above. It makes early form in the Sheffield Shield next summer all the more important for the likes of Travis, Pucovski (depending on his fitness), Harris etc. etc. so they get rewarded for effort/performance.

No Head or Pucovski neither has been given new CA contracts

Not at the moment, but whoever opens the batting with Warner and bats at number 5 in the next two Tests will automatically be offered a contract. Nothing wrong with a "wait and see" approach.

Take this to the bank

Kurtis Patterson will bat 5 in the ASHES series this year and will be the next Australian Test Captain.

There’s a reason why he captained NSW in the last few games when Hughes and others were available and he’s on the vontrzct list with a test batting average of 144

Is this the same guy who failed in both innings of the recent shield final.
Yeah nah!

Made 43 (top score in first innings) and 13.

Solid form in the Shield before the Ashes would put him strongly into contention.

He definitely should be considered but big difference between playing and captaining the side.

Whilst I'd love to see Patterson force his way back into our test team he'll be coming from a long way back. He was poor with the bat in 20/21, 362 runs @21.29.

Have heard up to 6 victorians will be on the Redbacks contract list and Hatzoglou isn't one of them

Heard the same as well and none of them are currently on Victoria's list?? (I stand corrected on this though). All from grade cricket over there I think including 1 or 2 that are getting rookie contracts ahead of some of the local youngsters here. Yes - did hear Hatzoglou has returned to Melbourne.

Definitely. If we don't secure a couple of decent signings from other states, then Tim Neilson has to go. Would be a disgrace. Great way to shove it up Grade clubs though - you won't merge so we will get young talent from other States!! That is not going to help us next season at all!

Surely there is at least 1-2 big name players.
If not Nielsen hasn’t done his job and should be moved on.

So for those of you who have more idea than I.

I recall when Andrew Sincock became coach of Redbacks in 97.
He mentioned the prospect of streamlining District cricket.
No clubs want to merge or be dropped, so I get that defiance.

When did streamlining District cricket first come up?
Gut feel says it was before 97.
I know this is something that comes up on a fairly regular basis nowadays.
