TA entered the SS comp in 1977-1978
This is the relativity of what I have termed a 'general rule'
Listed is number of titles won 1977/78 to 2020/21
The populations as of September 2020
11 NS 8,166,369
10 VI 6,680,648
9 QL 5,184,847
9 WA 2,667,130
3 TA 541,071
2 SA 1,770,591
If we swap TA around with SA then the the states with the highest populations have won the most SS titles
These are the winning % in all games of head to head games of SS played since 1892/1893 season
NS 42.75
VI 38.80
WA 35.20
QL 31.75
SA 27.54
TA 24.51
Very similar population relativity to title wins
These stats can be twisted to suit arguments
One such is there were 3 states that played each other early on NS/VI/SA
Without delving into the win/loss ratio of the 3 teams, I would say that NS/VI % of all time wins might be higher by often beating SA ???
When each state started
1892/193 NS/VI/SA
1926/1927 QL
1947/1948 WA
1977/1978 TA
You only need 11 players to represent teams in Domestic or International cricket[ 11+ if you count the 12th man/or concussion rulings]
Due to this small 11 representation a smaller populated state can win a SS
However the higher populated states still have an advantage of sorts
That is simply because there is a higher pool of players to pick from
