His economy rate is higher than most of the greats
But his phenoMenAL strike rate of 29.18 is clearly ahead of the other greats listed
There4 he is perhaps the greatest ODI bowler Australia has ever produced
So going by this logic Mal- Lee taking 4/75 off 10 is better than say Warney taking 2/35 off 10?
Just askin...
The logic is
For every 10 overs the big4 bowlers bowled in a game their stats suggest :
48 LEE
38 LILLEE
38 MCGRATH
42 WARNE
So LEE is more expensive, but to offset this
LEE gets his wickets quicker than the other 3
Quite simply , he removes batsman quicker than the others
The longer a ODI batsman bats for, most times his scoring rate will increase
The logic might be by getting batters out quicker, they had less chances to improve their batting s/rates
The other factor is when I comapre Lillee with Lee [half the name and half as good]
Lillee bowled in an era when ODI scores and S/Rates of batsman were lower
So Lillee's economy of being 10 better than Lee can be misleading
But for Lee to strike at 29.18 compared to Lillee's 34.88 is quite an effort
Whichever way you look at it
I should have posted
LEE is ""ARGUABLY"" the best ODI bowler this country has produced
I'd like to know the breakdown of what number batsmen Lee has dismissed.
