Shaun Marsh is reminding me of Marcus North. Its hit or'miss. Much rather kwahja. Marsh maybe not a number 3. Especially with the lack of cricket he has had.

With Justin Langer the passion and desire is there but I'm not sure that the technical expertise is. He's a big one for positive thinking (just read some of his books) and would rather hype up a minor positive than acknowledge any glaring negatives in a batsman.

What you need is a bloke who can address technical batting deficiencies in players and solve them. Not just talk platitudes.

Langer was coaching Phil Hughes intensively in the early part of last summer's Ashes series, talking him up and saying we needed to have faith in him but Hughes is still making the same mistakes and has consequently lost his spot in the side.

The worst thing that ever happened for Marsh was his 99 the other week. He was brought back before he was ready.

I think he could have a future in Test cricket, he was in great form a few months ago, but now is obviously struggling.

Send him back to WA, and bring him back when/if he finds some form.

WALLy Drearyvid
Is he a 1 series wonder on Australian decks ?

Here are his scores

1999-2000
35 + 6 ADEL
9 +14 MCG
29 + 0 SCG

2003-2004 [this was an amazing series]
1+ 43* GABBA
233 + 72* ADEL
49 + 92 MCG
38 + 91* SCG

2007-2008
5 + 16 MCG
53 + 38 SCG
93 + 3 PERTH
18 + 11* ADEL

2011-2012
68 + 10 MCG
5 SCG Current match

In that amazing series in 2003/2004, the only time AU got him cheap was at the Gabba
He killed AU on the flatter decks
2003-2004
619 RUNS @ 123.80

In all other series
413 runs @29.05

Drearyvid averages just under 100 at Adelaide Oval

Since that mammoth series in 03/04 Drearyvid has also been below form against AU in India as well
04/05... 167 @27.83
08/09... 120 @ 17.14
10/11... 112 @ 37.33

Looking at these stats[IF correct] since 2003/1004, perhaps he is fortunate to get a game against AU
Too good to write off, but ....

Looking from the outside it doesnt appear many are banging down the door to replace him. India are in deep trouble once these older guys retire.
Dont know if it is still the same now but was told a few years back that politics play a very big part in selection for the Indian sides, for memory there is 5 or 6 regions or zones and each of these zones have a selector on the national side.
Obviously the selectors will nominate someone from their zone regardless of their talent. Not suprisingly there is suggestions of corruption amongst the selectors and often more skilled players miss out

Poor old Zaheer likes to dish them out but his first ball dismissal was pathetic, looked like he was trying to run away.

An Indian guy I work with said that there is a "Northern zone" and a "southern zone", he said most players are picked from the Northern zone, and rarely does a southern player get a look in.

I wouldnt play him and wouldnt have picked him in the first place but the selectors will give Marsh another chance at the WACA.

They rushed him straight back into the side after and long injury lay off, they knew he would be rusty and they will give him time to regain his form as they obviously rate him very highly by how quick he was back in to the side.

Secondly the test is at the WACA his home ground the selectors will back him in to regain confidence been on his home deck.

Thirdly thanks to CA scheduling there is no 'in form' batsmen at the moment pressing for selection.

BBL at this time of year sucks balls.

SHAUN MARSH
Shaun Marsh MIGHT be a good middle order batsman at the highest level
He is vulnerable when facing good new ball attacks particularly in bowler friendly conditions

BATTING CAMP
Why all the fuss ?
Have the the SA-NZ-IN batters had batting camps as well ?

Geez Zaheer Khan has some very flat spells during a day.

Also play sculls on every time Ritchie Benaud mentions what Alan Davidson did/would have done!

You will be pissed by lunch time.

Has Pup lost Slazenger as a bat sponsor in 2012? Has got no stickers on his bat.

Todays paper mentions he ended his sponsorship which he has had since he was 13. Still deciding who to go to but has 2 or 3 companies after him.

The commentators talking about best cities and so forth got me thinking, Sydney crowd numbers are pretty low considering population.

They were saying there was roughly around 25k in on day two, compare that to the crowds that Melbourne get take population into account and Sydney doesnt compare very well. Same could be said for the NRL and A-League crowds in Sydney.

I agree with what you are saying in terms of there crowd numbers to population is low. Dont forget most of the Melbourne test is played on public holidays or when many businesses are closed for the christmas period.

Thats why I would have thought that it would have been beneficial to start this game on the 2nd Jan, cash in on the public holiday.

Yeah i didnt take public holidays and so forth into account. The Sydney test normally starts on the 2nd yeah!

Even thinking NRL crowds 20K to an NRL game is huge yet that to an AFL game in Melbourne is terrible.
