I like Big John, but he might end up being a Papa Guiseppe pizza , keeps getting picked , but is not delivering
I think he should get 1-2 more games as he is a good player for VI

You think he'll get picked enough to get those added toppings you add to those pizzas?

I reckon that 105 was the last time he batted at 3 ???

IF CLARKE is dropped NOW
He ends up with an ODI average of about 44
The selectors will rightly stick with him, until at least the end of the series
He only made 15 tonight but he did look in good touch

If those are the only time White has batted at 3 then I reckon it's a great call by you MAL.
You can only defend Clarke for so long MAL....he just isn't suited to todays shorter game, but if he does, open him or at 6.....i bet he's better performed away from 3 or 4.

Power play MAL ?
Bumbling booby would be a way to describe leadership on this one tonight.

Good day at the cricket, but pissed at Aussies non effort, in greyhound terms they are non chasers, there was no plan out there tonight at all.

As I thought Marsh and Watto have hid how bad we are in the first 3 games.

And Hastings? he is fast becoming my new hate child..

i haven't read any posts since the game started, will go back after, so if it has been said i'll apologise now.......i think australia made 2 tactical blunders today with the first being it was obvious smith, hussey & doherty had slowed the run rate down & then they bring on the quicker bowlers, i couldn't understand that & secondly when batting why not take the power play when you have batsmen out there ? it was so obvious even littlebayman said it at the 30 over mark, i personally thought when watson, hussey & white (in that period) were batting the powerplay should have been taken to try to gain the ascendancy, that norwood player batted very well for his ton for england, i don't think clarke has a plan B.........was a very good entertaining day despite the loss on australia day
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Thanks MP.
So it's obvious that the same people who decided on tonights power play chose not to put White in at 3 when Ponting was injured.
MAL has it right - White at 3 Marsh at wherever White bats ?

What I would like to see, injury permitting...

Actually I wouldn't like to see Clarke, I just know it's going to happen...

The first options (Paine/Hauritz/Tait) are my personal preferences:

1. Watson
2. Paine/Haddin
3. White
4. Clarke (c)
5. The Dave
6. Marsh
7. Smith
8. Johnson
9. Lee
10. Hauritz/O'Keefe
11. Tait/Bollinger

Hilariously bad from Australia today, sucky day at the AO.

1. Shocking rotation of bowlers. The quicks were getting tonked, so why when Smith and Dussey were working, do you take each off and replace them with the pace of Lee and Bollinger? Staggering.

2. Why did Watson only bowl 5 overs? He should've never have been used so early, he bowls his best around overs 20-35 and then at the death. He bowled 3 average overs early, and only came back on to bowl the 47th and 49th, conceeding only 10 runs, and only 8 off the bat. Ridiculous.

3. Use of the batting PP. Why not take it with White and Dussey at the crease needing 120 odd off about 90? They were going along okay, and yet if we lose one more wicket we're going to take it with the 'all-rounders' and bowlers. Stupidity. Sure enough, that's what happens, we take it with Smith and Lee, hilarious!

4. WHY IS HASTINGS IN THE TEAM? Worst Australian representative ever.

Team SHOULD be:

1. Watson
2. Haddin
3. Ponting
4. White
5. Clarke
6. M.Hussey
7. D.Hussey
8. Hauritz (if injured, O'Keefe)
9. Lee
10. Bollinger
11. Pattinson

Did you see his shot tonight ? His batting since being picked looks very ordinary.
His bowling isn't any more economical than Christian so how can you criticise ?

Yes, I did see his shot and it was crap (and so were several from others you'd expect better from).
Was there something wrong with his batting the other night with D Hussey?
Apart from a couple of loose swings he looked calm and solid in his technique.

I'd concede there isn't a big difference between him and Christian at the moment.
He's got picked first though and has the rest of the series to be at least serviceable to keep his spot.

And the World Cup.
It's probably more anti HIlditch directed at Hastings than anything.
I mean he came out in the press and said he selected him because of his height FFS.

All BS aside, Christian was inform and Hastings wasn't, that's where the Aussie selectors get in wrong continuously, play them while they're running hot I reckon.

I said to the tv when Trott and Lee had that little mix-up and seen Pup whinging "Shut up idiot and worry about the 15 you are going to make later on".
I was out when he was dismissed and the wife sent me a text, ha, Pup made 15. I wish I was logged on at that time. I think he needs to be rolling the arm over, I rate his bowling at times, especially on the sub-continent, it would make way for another batsman.
I've been sticking up for Dave Hussey lately although I didn't think he warranted a spot, he'd be a decent number 8 and I think he offers more than any other spinner, he thinks like a batsman when he bowls.

CLARKE
Im now concerned about Clarke
IF he failed and made close to 0 in his last 4 digs, you could say heez outa form
But to get starts like 36,10,9,and a 'ligthning'15 is ooucherism
Heez getting starts and getting out
In the Tests the fast bowlers were mainly too good for him
In the ODIs heez played 4 intent shots for 4 disMissALs
The only consolation is when he sees a tape of that innings is that he looked in good touch b4 getting out

MARSH
That ton he made at 6 further emphasised to me that this guy in the middle order is the real deal
Ive been watching him now for a while, when he gets going he canes spinners/meduim pacers/part timers
His problem as an opener or batting 3 if a wicket falls early, is that the real deal quickies can get him really cheap
IF he manages to get past those good bowlers then he will make runs
Batting top 3 will see some inconsistency, low scores and also a couple of biguns to make up
Batting at 4 -5 means a possibilty of more consistency
For the umpteenth time, he looked like Sobers, Hookes, Pollock, Lara, Gower batting at 6
So why promote him ?
Better to bat him 4-5-6 now
When the other skipper comes back at 3, the only spot left open will be the current number 4s spot ...

CHASING 300
Need team players
Players who risk thier wicket for the betterment of the team
I saw 4 players who were prepared to lose thier wickets to try and win
WATSON
HADDIN
SMITH
LEE

I saw SMITH and LEE running a single at the end to a ball that went thru to the keeper
I saw SMITH and LEE dragging balls of their stumps and trying to win this game
I SAW WATTO play lofted drives over the infield
I saw HADDIN take them on as he always does

I also saw batsman batting at 3-4-5 play too carefully
