CLARKE
Im now concerned about Clarke
IF he failed and made close to 0 in his last 4 digs, you could say heez outa form
But to get starts like 36,10,9,and a 'ligthning'15 is ooucherism
Heez getting starts and getting out
In the Tests the fast bowlers were mainly too good for him
In the ODIs heez played 4 intent shots for 4 disMissALs
The only consolation is when he sees a tape of that innings is that he looked in good touch b4 getting out
MARSH
That ton he made at 6 further emphasised to me that this guy in the middle order is the real deal
Ive been watching him now for a while, when he gets going he canes spinners/meduim pacers/part timers
His problem as an opener or batting 3 if a wicket falls early, is that the real deal quickies can get him really cheap
IF he manages to get past those good bowlers then he will make runs
Batting top 3 will see some inconsistency, low scores and also a couple of biguns to make up
Batting at 4 -5 means a possibilty of more consistency
For the umpteenth time, he looked like Sobers, Hookes, Pollock, Lara, Gower batting at 6
So why promote him ?
Better to bat him 4-5-6 now
When the other skipper comes back at 3, the only spot left open will be the current number 4s spot ...
CHASING 300
Need team players
Players who risk thier wicket for the betterment of the team
I saw 4 players who were prepared to lose thier wickets to try and win
WATSON
HADDIN
SMITH
LEE
I saw SMITH and LEE running a single at the end to a ball that went thru to the keeper
I saw SMITH and LEE dragging balls of their stumps and trying to win this game
I SAW WATTO play lofted drives over the infield
I saw HADDIN take them on as he always does
I also saw batsman batting at 3-4-5 play too carefully
