Why did I think CLARKE might make a ton

When he split form that lucious beauty he came out and made runs
When his tenure as a ODI skipper was ostracised he made a half ton not out and top game score, and skippered his team to an emphatic win
This next innings v VI he had the opportunity to further silence his critics and he did
Lara will prob still agree as well, that Michael rises to the occasion

He is the best batsman in the country
Some will argue that PONTING , WATTO or KHAWAJA might be, but for me its CLARKE

TA 196
QL 254
TA 271....cowan 65.....paine 74.....
QL 0/2
QL need a further 211 runs to win, and surely must get them
PONTING made 32 + 5 this match
HARRIS took 5/72 + 4/68 and rocketing into Test calculations

VI 378
NS 263....clarke a hard earnt 3 boundary 113..next best hauritz 27
VI 7/242....quiney 49...mcdonald another ton 100* this guy he does his best every time he plays..wade 40
VI were 5/103 and thats about the time SMITH came on to bowl and his effort has cost NS dearly...smith 0/77
SMITH will be costly at this stage of career but will prosper as a spinner in about 2 years time
VI lead by 357 runs and will set up maybe a 390 chase after 46 minutes TOMorrow one would think
STARC did not bowl in the 2nd dig, must be injured ?????

Well done to Andrew MacDonald a ton in each inning, the best all rounder in domestic cricket.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

After the fact claiming you are nostrMALdamus because you stated someone MIGHT make a ton is pretty easy.

Interesting debate about McDonald. I maybe wrong but todays 100 is his third in 5 innings including a 150 at better than a run a ball. Although I think the other 2 knocks were single digits. Despite this form I can't see him batting 6 in test cricket. He is only a medium pacer so couldn't take a seamer position. What I saw of him vs S.Africa he bowled pretty well. Sure he didn't take many wickets but he bowled stump-to-stump with buggar-all loose balls & made the batsman play every ball. He built up a lot of pressure and got wickets for the bloke at the other end. Averages & stats don't always paint the whole picture!

The only way I can see him playing regular test cricket is if we have a keeper or spinner who can bat 6 allowing McDonald to come in 7 or 8 without losing a frontline seamer, unless of course this recent form continues and he plays as a batsman.

What the....

These 4 men were at the SCG today
Andrew Hilditch
David Boon
Greg Chappell
Jamie Cox

Now these guys happen to be the 4 Australian selectors

So whaddabout the TA V QL game
Perhaps Ricky Ponting was the selectors delegate at this match ?

Ponting gave it up around 3 years ago! Considering he plays 1-2 games a year in all formats, Bailey definitely deserves it

Agree with pretty much everything you say.
He'd be a great number 7 or 8 for the Aussies.
IMO we don't need Hauritz.
North / Clarke / Katich can bowl enough overs of spin if we need them.
McDonald isn't an outstanding Cricketer. He just bowls stump to stump and uses subtle variations every now and then. 2/24 from 15 overs is great bowling. Cricket is about bowling in Partnerships..

and.. For a guy who can't bat he's in white hot form with the bat at the moment.

I like the look of this team for the first test;

Watson
Katich
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
North
Haddin
McDonald
Johnson
Harris
Hilfenhaus

What has James Hopes done wrong to being constantly overlooked for higher honours? He's been carrying Queensland for a few years now. He's sort of disappeared from the ODI scene. Very handy Cricketer imo.

The same reason as Simon O'Donnell.

Let me explain
Predicting is an exacting science of sorts
I was focusing on Clarkey
Concentration concentration concentration
Then the message procured itself
It was
Michael Clark will make a
.ON
Just as the :::: .ON part of it was translated, there was interference
Rather than giving up on this, I made a decision to decipher th :::: .ON

I narrowed it down to these 2
Clarkey is gunna make a sON
Clarkey is gunna make a tON

Rather than wait 9 months , I decided to go with the :
Michael Clarke might make a ton post of mine

I might have ended up being right, but if Clarkeys latest gal drops a kid in August 2011 ....

Pidge i must apologise, it seems your mate McDonald has been reading these forums like all good athletes should and has turned it on in the SS game. twin 100s and tidy bowling an easy MOM selection, he really has flipped me the bird when ive bagged him

however still dont rate him, still dont want him in the test side.

Harris is bowling well at the minute (9 wickets vs Tas) but I reckon Bolly (if fit) will get first crack at the Poms. I can see your point re Hauritz but I can't see selectors not picking a specialist spinner.

VI declared 8/275
MCDONALD 107*
NS need 390 off 96 overs
Thats an imposing chase on the final day
But can the millionaire batting line up click and pull off a win ?

NS 0/28
WATTO 14*[26] when is he gunna make a big domestic/international score this summer
HUGHES 13*[17] opportunity to throw his bat swish slash or whatever and make runs

brilliant start needed, one of the openers needs to make a ton at least for a win
HADDIN + SMITH to provide some bashing later, and you never know
CLARKE this time not likely to make a ton, a connotation of sorts for Smithy !

QL need 213 to win
0/58
cruising to victory
HARRIS the matchwinner
PONTING the match nothinger
