cant wait to get in tomorrow. think if nash and sammy can nudge 400 will make for a testing 1st innings for the aussies. Also think that big Benn could prove to be a handful with his bounce the longer this match goes on. Definately not all doom and gloom as we have been hearing from australias distinguished past greats (hughes) and knowledgeable media.

The Windies have improved on the efforts of the last test but a score of 400 doesn't represent a giant total on that deck. The Poms got 550 and got done a couple of years ago (not that we have a Warney to get us out of those matches again). The Windies are competitive, but that's it so far IMO.

Attendance is 13,151. The smallest opening day crowd to an Adelaide Oval Test match since 1995/96 vs Sri Lanka (9119).
It's the smallest opening day crowd vs West Indies since 1988/89 (12,048). That was when the Bradman Stand was being built.
It's 1623 less than the opening day at Brisbane in the 1st Test, however, you would think that more than 13,711 will attend tomorrow to at least break even with the first two days at the Gabba last week.

I think it was an excellent crowd imo. As I stated earlier I didnt think there would be more than 10000 there.

Seriosly.

How long does an over take? 3 minutes, yeah?

How long did 3 appeals take? 10 minutes, yeah?

If you agree with those figures, we are 2 overs down over a days play. Is it that much of an issue?

Well said.

True but in some sort of defence these bloody challnges re dismissals seem to take an eternity, however Hauritz did bowl 22 overs so they should have got to the max for the day.

But isn't that why they give the players the extra half-an-hour leeway?
90 overs in 6 hours, little bit of overtime to take into account these interruptions.
NOT 85 overs in 6.5 hours.
Given that players are professionals these days and there are large amounts of analysis done off the field these days, surely a lot of plans and ideas would be in place. Of course there will be occasions when these will change and take some captain-bowler discussion, but I don't see how or why they should take any longer than years ago when players were semi-professional.

Bollinger claims a catch that was clearly a half volley.

Still 9 for.

all out for 451 from 124.1 overs

not a bad effort from the no. 11 to get to 40 off 66, he should bat ahead of gayle

Going to be a huge battle for the aussies to win this one unless the wicket cracks totally on day 4 and 5

ABC are saying the wicket is staying a tad low..

you would think the aussies would either have to go for the runs quickly to either match it, or declare just below it and to have a crack at a 4th inning chase on the 5th day

Benn looks to be getting some nice turn there. Bowled a good one to Watson.

Watson is batting magnificently. Massive opportunity for him to put a ton on the board.
