NFC wrote:Michael Clarke is a star. One of the best players of spin I've seen and his range of strokes is fantastic.

Really matured as a batsman, and as a person, and he's now secured his spot in the team. When he's done he'll end up having an average of 50+ and easily 20+ centuries. After a slight hiccup he really is the future of Australian cricket.

Have to agree NFC, sit back and remember a few years ago, a young fella by the name of Ponting had exactly the same start as young Pup, the comparisons are scarey actually (if you are a bowler)

Agreed. He and Ponting are extremely similar and will end up having similar success. Clarke might not quite reach the level of Ponting but his potential is close to what Punter's was at the same age.

Tea at the Gabba, well I was 24 runs short of my prediction yesterday, not happy Jan however at Tea Aust are 4/476

Clarke 121* (just showing his class and how good he is and he will get better)

Symonds 5* (all set up for him now)

Question is, will Aust go all out for about an hour after tea to get around 520-550 and then have just under an hour at the Lankans Think it may well happen. Only thing is if Ponting tells the likes of Clarke, Symonds Gilchrist and Lee there is an hour to bat they may well hit 150. Could be an exciting session coming up, as if the last one wasn't

In an hour of play we could get about 80 runs. This is the perfect time for Symonds to bat, runs on the board and no real pressure. If he fails it's no big deal because of the situation and if he blasts a quick 40 or 50 he goes a long way towards cementing his spot.

IMO we'll declare with an hour to go at about 550. But with the threat of bad light, we might only get to bowl about 5 overs. Is it worth it, or should we just go for the extra 50+ runs?

I'm sure they're discussing it as we speak.

Yeh as I said above, there is no point declaring only to bowl a few overs and have them declare. We might as well make 50 extra runs than make a pointless declaration.

Declaration has been made, so we will see the Lankans probably face 1 ball, should have kept batting in that light, why oh why do we continue to have the first test In Brisbane. I have been watching test cricket for 40 odd years and it is always the same up there, sure we get results in most games but we want to watch a full days cricket
