On Renshaw, still has plenty of work to do and is only 20 of course, but I like what I have seen so far. Yes he has clear issues on a line just on or outside off with a bit of movement. Certainty not alone there in the world of cricket, but at 20 he has the time to work on that. I like his approach to batting and opening. Has a good mindset to be out there for a while. I think with time we will really see this kid develop nicely.

Yesterdays innings also shows the maturity of Renshaw. He copped it for his innings in Adelaide where he was on the go slow (34 off 137) but it was the innings that needed to be played as there was no rush to get the 100 odd we needed. Then yesterday in a 1st innings batting first he gets his 71 in timely fashion for an opener. Good signs I think.

Yep and as one who got frustrated at Adelaide due 15 scoring shots in 137 balls yesterday he showed what Chappelli was banging on about as he turned the strike over (17 x 1s) and had double the scoring shots for almost 20 less balls faced. Easiest spot to bat from is the other end!

Text book openers innings yesterday from him

Thank goodness someone got what Chappelli was saying.

Yep the Adelaide crowd reaction was one of the dumbest most uneducated crowd reactions to a home team performance i have ever seen!!

I love Renshaws temperament, its the old school let everything outside off go early on, make them bowl to your strengths and protect your middle order while hopefully having a craving for being in the middle for long periods.

We will treat the rest of this innings like a 20/20. Hopefully Hanscomb can get his maiden test 100.

Maddinson gone. Another low score. Needs to somehow battle his nerves. I'm guessing it could be nerves being his un-doing.

Yep Maddisson is a better option than Head or Ferg

Now lets see what Wade can bring. Time to prove that your batting skills are the reason why you've been picked.

A cardboard cut out would be better than Ferg!!!

Head on the other hand, reckon he will be in for the next test especially with an India tour coming up.

If the CA had their own choice. Yeah perhaps. But I seriously hope not. I think Maddinson has 1 test to prove himself before they may look to another option. And I believe Head has to be the next choice.

Nah, i think it was pretty clear they were reluctant to change the side that turned the fortunes around with a victory against South Africa.

Much like Ferguson didnt have age on his side Maddinson doesnt an outstanding first class record to give him credits in the bank.

If the selectors are serious Head comes in for Maddinson on Boxing Day. Ferg got one Test and got the arse, no reason Maddinson shouldn't be afforded the same.

I think Head has impressed those around the Aussie set up in his time around the One Day squad. Just a real pity there isn't a Shield match on this week for him to show the form he's in!!

What about the bloke who has a 6 run better 1st class average (41 v 35) than Head, Pattinson???

Shaun Marsh would most probably have been playing this test , but is injured , again
Last 6 innings since his 2 against New Zealand are as follows
49-182-130-23-63-15 at an average of 77

On that form he is likely to go to England
When Shaun Marsh is available does he come in for Matt Renshaws openers spot ?

Another 2nd day collapse, how many times over the years have we been 3/280-300 at stumps on day 1 only to be bowled out for under 450 on the 2nd day.

Once again being carried by 2 or 3 batsman
