Bowling is crap. We hit the right line and length 1 ball an over!

That would have been about the extent of Boof's pre-match talk too.

How about some batting and bowling basics before the sledging starts.

No wonder the Australian cricket team isn't universally loved by Australians.

The miss in the slips summarises the way today has gone for us. Poms can do no wrong and we can't take a trick. Looked like Clarke would have gobbled that up

So the reverse of the last Ashes series here then?

Well last series here was 5-0 so perhaps not quite but to an extent yes.

With the Poms pretty much taking the piss at 3/156 I think now people can probably see how I saw that as our worst ever innings.

Someone had to just say. No matter what I am here at lunch, you bastards are not going to get me out. Our batting in the last test was also very frontrunnerish if that was a word.

Not good enough in a deciding Ashes Test.

They have been talking about wrestling for 10 minutes. That's how we are travelling. Warne is just listing off 80s and 90s wrestlers... not very well but its par for the course today.

Broad bowled well but don't know about unplayable.
Rogers and Warner are the only batsmen ones who couldn't do much about how they got out.
Bairstow might not be the best batsman in either side, but he's got some guts and determination lacking in the Aussies, apart from Rogers. He played some important back up innings in 2013 and again yesterday. How much Warner would have loved to have someone like that in the second innings last test

Highlight of the night?

Mark Nicholas throwing to the chick to sing "Jerusalem" and Warnie going. "Pretty decent strip too, I might add".

Whats extras to top score paying??

If you bastards listened to me and followed Tommy's Tips you'd be rich now. Had to be 100/1 minimum.

The list of Fox Sports embarrassing stats makes my skin crawl.

I'm so glad I'm working and then I'm coming home to watch the footy.

* Australia were all out in 111 balls — the fewest amount for a first innings in Test history and the country’s third shortest of all time.

* Australia’s 60 was their seond-lowest total in the past 79 years (the lowest being 47 against South Africa in Cape Town in 2011).

* Stuart Broad’s 8/15 are the best figures by a fast bowler for either team in Ashes Tests.

* Broad’s five-for was the fastest in Test history, taking only 19 balls.

* Broad’s figures are also the best before lunch on the opening day of a Test, beating Graham McKenzie’s 6/34 for Australia against India in 1967.

* Australia’s 60 all out is their sixth lowest total in Ashes Tests and their lowest since 1948.

* The first time in Ashes history that extras had top-scored for either side, and the first time for Australia since playing against West Indies in 1991.

* The last time both Australia’s openers were out without scoring was against Sri Lanka in 1999. Chris Rogers made the first duck of his Test career, in his 46th innings.

* The number of balls to take five wickets was 25, the fewest since ball-by-ball data first started being recorded in 2002.

* Broad’s double-wicket opening over was only the third time this had been achieved (after India’s Irfan Pathan in 2006 and Chris Cairns in 2002) since 2002.

* Broad became the fifth English Test bowler to reach 300 Test wickets when he removed Rogers.

^ makes for some very sad reading. I hope the selectors are aware of all these stats, and while it is unrealistic to make wholesale changes now, clearly we need to get the broom out. Have to agree with Bumble, if Siddle doesn't get a game on that pitch, he is never going to get a game. Personally I don't think we can play Johnson & Starc in the same team, they are too similar, so no variety there. Our batters were found out in the conditions. I am a firm believer that you best batter, bats at 4..... S. Marsh is NOT our best batter. Other than last night Rogers has been the rock, now he is almost on the eve of his last test match, so where to from here at the top of the order??

If your bat movement goes from mid-wicket to gully you aren't going to have much success other than providing the slips with catching practice.

What happened to playing the "v" early in an innings?

The most disappointing shot was Clarkes. 5/29 and an out of form skipper chases a full wide one and "nick"....it was a stinker of a shot and the sign of a man not comfortable at the crease at all. His half pull a few balls before further evidence he simply isn't picking it up out of the hand.

Burns, Head, Abott and Coulter-Nile need a look in before too long.
