Will be interesting to see how long Michael Clarke stays at number 3 or will he dummy spit and drop back down the order.

Funnily enough with Clarke going up to 3 and failing we still could hit our highest score for the series!

After caning everyone about not giving Botha credit I except him to offer Smith the same praise

When will you give Cowan some credit.

Like I said his a battler who gives his all, I still think he lacks the overall class to make the big test scores as proven today.

Watson was crucified for not going on and making hundreds, that doesn't seem to apply for Cowan

Cowan has only played 15 tests. Watson 40.

Cowan has been the 2nd best batsmen on this tour, and has spent the most time at the wicket than any Aussie.

I agree his going all right and is right fully holding his spot, Like i said i love his attitude and the way he goes about it, and like i have said and so far have been proven right i dont think he has the overall class to make the 'big' hundreds.

1 hundred in 27 innings tends to suggest im right, remembering he has also had some soft series as well with the NZ, SL, IND at home, WI away.

I guess the issue i know a few people including myself have is Watson was removed as the opener due to his lack of ability to turn 50's into 100's. He was avergaing 40 which is handy for an opener and we have replaced him with an opener who is averaging less and is no better at turning 50's into 100's.

I guess imho, turning 50's into 100's is the least of our worries for an opener and a BS reason for one to be dropped, if they can average 40 and average 70 odd as an opening partnership and see of the new ball they are generally doing their job.

Yeah but lets be honest he only had 1 good innings out of 6 against the Saffers and is averaging 30 as a test batsmen, he replaced a bloke whose test average is better than his first class average.

EDIT: 2 good innings against the saffers.

AUS 8-348

SMITH gone for 92!!!!!!!!

Great innings by Smith, shining light of the series and has booked himself a ticket to the Ashes!

We have discovered our next GUN batsmen.

Im interested to hear why he shouldnt hold his position in the side, knowing the selectors this innings will get him dropped because he didnt go on to make a hundred, but getting a ducks ok!!

Oh where oh where has the Smith haters gone!

Smith will be the next test skipper

Does PL footy really need the Tigers, after last years efforts I'd say no. It's a bye anyway, might as well just call the day off and go fishing!![/quote]

First test when we squeezed out 350 I thought it was enough till India bounced back with over 500, every run counts here.
