apparently SACA has already selected squads for next season. They could be in for a rude shock when most of the players picked refuse to play in it. Yet to come across someone in Grade cricket (from several clubs mind you) that is for it.

sad state of affairs if so many people playing the game don't want to represent our state.

I don't think this is the case.
The players are still playing the highest grade they have been selected in.
When it comes to the premier league if they were picked, they would play.

Players do want to play State cricket, but when SACA tell you that you will not as long as your a..e points to the ground, why would you continue to contribute to this system. I highlight, Borgas, Moffatt, Kelly, Delmont, etc. etc. All SA and the clubs want is for their players to be given the same opportunity to play for SA through on ground performance as the blow ins from interstate. Whilst we are currently praising the performance of Luderman, he has been a full paid contracted player for 4 years, last year couldn't catch a cold. Equality and opportunity.

Now here are some questions for you
- would you rather play for your club, where you have been for 10 plus years or play a State trial game (because that is what the PL will be) after being told you will not play for the Redbacks
- Play at Park 25 every week, or Parkinson, Perti, Price Memorial, which is supported by a club, afternoon teas, a quick beer or two after the game, instead of an ice bath - This is what clubs present to the players.
- Travel to train 3 nights a week or pop around the corner to your club and train and enjoy the atmosphere that comes with being at a club.
- Have some say in what happens at your club because you are a senior player, or become part of the sheep flock at PL training.
Having said that, I support the reduction of Grade Teams because it has now become obvious that something must happen, clubs can either throw mud at the PL, or be part of their own destiny and make some changes. If you look at the heirachy of grade clubs, understand the following - SD - Harvey Jolly, life member Salisbury and SD, ET - Andrew Carver - played at Sturt now at ET, TTG - John Davey - life member at Salisbury and TTG. I am sure there are many more examples of the same, but ask them what impact on their lives would it have if their former club, merged. I am tipping not much because they have moved on. They all still enjoy an ale or two during the Test Match with former team mates and opponents and brag about how good their club was. Happy new year to all.

Draft program released for the PL shows only 3-4 days clash with Grade Cricket. This may put a lot of club's minds a bit more at ease.

Ha! Grade clubs are too insular to be at ease. Too busy trying to win 16 whites flags to care about the game.

I don't care if my club wins 16 Whites Flags, they are there to develop for 1 season before trying to win 16 Red flags....

Eh? Left SACA a long time ago so your first point is poorly made. I may or may not be an idiot, not for me to decide.

Had nothing to do with game formats at grade level, don't the grade cricket committee set that stuff?

But I'm happy with my contribution to the game, knowing it was done with no club bias but just the game itself in mind.

And I'm pleased to be away from the disfunction of it all.

Have heard PNG go ok, think played a few games in Darwin. Will be interesting to see the player buy in as they juggle work/family/holliday commitments . A few players from various clubs I know of wont be playing in the comp.

Well our Redbacks listed players have no choice. We also have a couple of Australian Underage representatives in the A grade at present so they would be next on the list to be drafted in. For the rest they will weigh it up when asked about it by the coaching staff for the team I think.

SH, you have made all that up, I can't see Trent or Jason (Cameron?) playing at all, close to or past 30, both huge club men for respective clubs. Now I know who Cameron is obviously, but Porter & Vincent, know a few people by those names, but no one that would be in consideration for these jobs. Porter - State Physio perhaps, Vincent do you mean Vaughan. Anyone within the Redbacks structure will not get the jobs, plus they are not offering that much money, bit more than your normal grade coach would get.

Heater - Dean Sayers getting told in a letter that he is not required in 13/14, forget his phone number or that he trains the club two days a week, explanation please before lauching into tirade of unprofessional abuse.
