Thats a helluva chase
If Dhoni bats 20 balls it will prob be 280 off 280 balls

8*[20]

Another thrilling first 20 balls faced by Dhoni AGAIN
Meanwhile this is prob the mid pitch between overs conference between Raina and Dhoni
"" Hey skip how about you playing some shots , otherwise I will get AGAIN trying to make up the run rate AGAIN .""
"" Hey Rains, I am more important than the team, Im going get to about 20 off 35 balls again.""

average of 51 with a strike rate of 88,
Pretty rough there MAL

Adam gilchrist ave 35 SR 96
Ricky ponting ave 42 SR 80
Sachin. Ave 44 SR 86
Jacques kallis ave 47 SR 75
Kevin Pietersen ave 40 SR 86
Kumar sangakara ave 47 SR 75

Best average of all those batsman and second highest strike rate

Joker thats his overall career, and in the past he has been excellent

Ive only ever haddago at him this series
Tonight is a great example of how he gave his team no chance of winning
To chase 289 means someone on the top 6 MUST score at least a run a ball
IN were 4/36 when he walked in
He scored 56 off 84 balls a s/rate of 66.67
IN needed him to score 84 off 56 balls to win this game
IN could NOT win of he uses up 14 overs to score 56 runs

There in lies the point Im making
Dhoni is capable of mauling attacks, so why not maul a lot earlier and give his team a chance to win

For example
34 overs
6/127
Dhoni was 41 runs off 73 balls
162 needed of 96 balls [thats over 10 an over]

The team cant win
But if he was daring and upped the ante and was say 60 off 60 balls
then his team needs
143 runs off 109 balls [which is an easier equation at about 8 an over]

If he gets out for 25 of 22 balls sobiet, he must try and win the game

In ODI cricket
Usually 1 or 2 players get going
The guys that get going, do need to be making the Dhoni 56 at a run a ball
The guys that make 2 off about 6 balls never got going

To me Dhonis innings tonight was a sham
And Im havingago at him because I know what he is capable of

still averaging 65 with a sr of 75 in this series. He has always started slow, he usually explodes and ups his RR
I love vegatarian food. It goes great with steak.

Averaging 65 with a s/r of 75
Thats ordinary
MOST batsman averaging 65 batting at 6 would have strike rates closer to 90-100

Even his team mate Gambhir is having at go at Dhonis batting in the press

there is very little batting behind dhoni - he has to bat sensibly to give his side a chance of being in the finish

if you want to have a go at indian batsmen you should be targetting the blokes batting above dhoni who arent lasting the distance

I agree with you Mal

while he has a high average, imagine the guy down the other end who would be feeling all the pressure to hit some big shots because they ear scoring 3/4 runs an over. I can't remember who, might have been Jadeja who played a terrible slog shot against Australia because of Dhoni scoring 5 for 20odd balls. If Dhoni gets out of 5 of 20 balls chasing 289 then he has basically cost his team the game.

Dhoni cost India the game against Sri Lanka with his very slow batting. Luckily for him Australia can't bowl at the death or he would look like the selfish player that he is.
