The selectors are gutless. Demand ponting to drop down the order or sack him. What other number 3 batsmen in the world averages less than him in the last 12 months?
If we lose this test and the ashes i dont care if we get whipped in sydney as long as we play a few more kids and no ponting

Pick a short term interim captain.

He's next in line and the selectors love child.
There is no way they would NOT appoint Clarke if Ponting isn't playing in the next 12 months.
If Ponting lasts another 3 years then maybe Clarke will miss out.

And if he didn't play he would be called gutless and comments like " AB would've played etc etc" .

Oh well, at least those people who don't like batting decks will be happy. Personally, I enjoy watching some batting rather than balls beating the bat and batsmen walking in and out all day.

Its because of flat batting pitches that the 'modern' bats cant play against a ball that does anything except go straight...

nothing wrong with a wicket that does something early, just put ya head down and dont try and score at 4 an over...

That's absolute bullshit Aleem Dar, I've seen other runs given for less attempt to play a shot. Clearly Harris was looking for the deflection off the hip.

Yes, that's true ... which is why we need to prepare decks that don't allow bowlers to dominate. A Test is meant to last 5 days, not be over halfway through day 3. All pitches "do something early", this deck is way too juicy.
