I was reading an article on cricinfo.com today about Mark Butcher.

They said he'd played 71 Tests without winning an ODI cap for England...

Got me thinking... What is the record for the highest number of Test matches without gaining an ODI cap...?

Obviously since ODI's came into vogue.

Mark Butcher has the 8th highest tally of Test matches without playing a ODI, although the other 7 players had retired well and truely by the time ODI cricket became popular.

91 Evans (Eng)
85 Hammond (Eng)
82 Barrington (Eng)
79 Gravney (Eng)
79 Harvey (Aus)
79 Hutton (Eng)
76 Compton (Eng)

I always liked Butcher. 2 innings stand out for me. After getting cleaned up by Matt Nicholson at the WACA resulting in 9 stitches to his scone, the media commented that he had more stitches than runs on the tour to date. He then made 100 in the first test a week or so later. And the second was the 170 odd to win the match in the 2001 Ashes at Headingley. Great knock!

Here's one for you Brod ... the other week Watson and North both took 5+ wickets in an innings in the same test. Has it ever happened before that 2 top 6 batsmen have done this in the same test?

Quick one for you Brod, and I'm just testing you because I know the answer

Most ODI's without scoring a fifty, or taking a 5-fer...

Not MJ- he's scored a fifty AND taken a five-for...

But his seventy-odd games is around the mark...
