windies go from 3 down to 5 down due to bad umpiring in the box first of all and ramdin not being awake. i hope that it doesn't ruin the good work that chanderpaul and bravo had done since lunch

it was good umpiring. he definitely hit it! just hot spot could not been seen as the bat was angled away from the view being shown! Definitely good umpiring and well deserved

How can anyone say he definitely hit it. we all know that cameras play tricks with angles and the like. there was no hot spot on the bat to be seen and only the one hot spot on the ball as it went to the keeper. I thought it was meant to applied for the massive howlers and IMO that was not one of them

What a lot of CRAP.
Good umpiring  ????? IF he did hit it, how is it good umpiring that the umpire gave it NOT OUT originally???
Once reviewed, there was NO DEFINITIVE evidence to overturn the decision SO how is it good umpiring?????

JJ cripple had said bad umpiring in the box! I disagree and said good umpiring for mine!

IMO he hit it. Due to the angle of the bat after hitting the ball, hot spot could not see the edge that the ball went past! Still out because the deflection shown in the other angle, which was evident!

Not so much a good turn around FH, he was extremely lucky to not get out once again in the same way! For mine, the Aussies could put 4 people back bowl bouncers and still have him playing hook and pull shots!!

Good innings tho with a lot of luck

Maybe the solution to this problem is putting a hot spot detector with the cameras that are used for run outs and stumpings from side on. The bad umpiring IMO comes from making a call when a major piece of evidence (in this case hot spot) cannot prove it is out, whatever the reason

Watto strikes.... but it is taken away from him. It did look a bit high and replays confirmed it.

That nasty Ponting fella then laughed with the ump and walked away... maybe he thought it was too high as well.

Now he's gone! Bowled by Hauritz, lovely bowling but pretty ordinary shot. Superb innings by Bravo though.

Seriously get rid of Gayle and bring someone else in, the rest of the team are showing a bit of fight here but not helped by their "captain".

windies pass the 300 6 wickets down. if nash and sammy can survive till 6pm it should leave the scorecard in a similar position to what it was after day 1 of the Gabba test.

What about the hotspot on the ball [/quote]

well the ball has to have a hot spot from when it hits the pitch. I would assume that there would be another hot spot from where it hits the bat. not sure how long the hot spot lasts but would think it might help in making a decision if there were two hot spots there

85 overs for the day is a DISGRACE. Ponting should be SUSPENDED as until the captains are, they will continue to treat the paying public with disdain.

True but in some sort of defence these bloody challnges re dismissals seem to take an eternity, however Hauritz did bowl 22 overs so they should have got to the max for the day.

wasnt overly impressed with the aussie attack today, as much as i dont want to say it, I thought Watson was probably about our best, Johnson is back bowling alot of tripe and Siddle got cained, Hauritz and Bollinger steady, think day 1 ends up evens between the 2 sides

Good stuff, some genuine Test Match cricket played, that's what we like to see (or hear, for the home crowd).

Really looking forward to heading in to the ground tomorrow, getting there early and watching the it fill up. Good on the Windies for batting through, I always like getting to see both teams have a bowl.
