Yep, it's exactly what Australia need to prevent us from losing this Test. Watto's doing well. Not the most convincing knock by any means and he was out plumb LBW (Indians have every right to be very very annoyed with that) but he has done his job well. Hope he goes on with it now and makes a big score.

sure they do i see them jumpin up and down with ganguly givin not out for the stumping in the first innings

Australia has every right to be very very annoyed with that as well. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Rudi should give it away. He has been deplorable. Seriously he can never give an LBW out again after not giving Watson out. No chance an LBW shout could be any more obvious than that. As for him not referring the Ganguly stumping well that is equally as baffling. The guy has no idea. He should be so embarrassed with his performance and apologise to both the Australian and Indian teams.

TEA
AU 8/249
WATTO 66* [132] batted 2 sessions for his country and has occupied the crease for 4 hours
Verstaile batsman
smashes them in 20/20
scores quickly 50 over games
and shown he can play 5 day cricket
He batted shithouse as RROOSTER said until that disgraceful non LBW
From 39-66 he has looked very good
Im surprised I didnt think pre tour he could play well v spin
This guy despite his critics has done OK in only 4 tests
He might be a cripple
he might be sook [when bowling]
But one thing that impresses me is that despite all his critics and setbacks he continues to TRY

Did we see the last ball b4 tea
Watto leg glances for 4
and its called leg byes hmnnn.

PS
On WATTO Ive decided to treat him as I would any other player this season
NFC will do all the canvassing

AU 8/249 Still in deep shit

It would be nice if we could get the chase below the 100 mark but I can't see it happening.

That's what he should be in the team, a batsman, and occasional bowler.

and that is exactly why he shouldn't be in the team. There is no way known he could be picked ahead of Hussey, Marsh, Hodge etc. purely as a batsman. He has done very well today (albeit with a fair dose of luck) but he can't bowl and isn't good enough with the bat to justify his spot in the side based on just that.

Regardless, well done Watto. Good fighting knock that has given some respectability to the Australian innings.

No need for insults NFC. I have an opinion that differs from yours but if all you can come up with to counter my points is to call me stupid then you clearly have very little to contribute.

RR, I'm guessing you think that his effort in the innings gone is a flash in the pan, but he deserves another game for that innings alone.

Well it's a bit boring hearing the same thing every game, he could make 200 and take match figures of 15/90 and you'd still find a way to bag him.

Didn't take any wickets in the first innings but was the most economical of our bowlers. If he is as bad a bowler as you make him out to be, why didn't they go after him?

And now he's just top scored for Australia after being the 2nd top scorer in the second innings of the 1st test. And yet here you are saying that he shouldn't be in the team because his batting isn't good enough? Ummm Symonds isn't on tour because his lack of discipline, we need an all-rounder and hence Watto plays. He's not the one to drop out of the side regardless, it's White who is in danger of being dropped. Watto is averaging 40 with the bat this series, good enough to be a pure batsman? Considering Clarke's career average is about 45 from memory, yes it is. And not to mention he gives us another option with the ball, is actually our 4th bowler in this series, and is a good fieldsman.

He's had a good start to the series, pity your hatred of the man has blinded you.

No room for Hayden and Katich?

I personally think Katich is better than Jaques.

and Hayden is just in a bit of a sh1tty patch, he will bounce back!

Agreed with Hayden, he's in my side, so I guess I should have him in there.

Marsh= champ
Jaques= underrated, better than Katich.

Sigh ](*,) ](*,)

Your faith in Watto is admirable but you just keep missing my point. I don't think he is a bad batsman. I actually think he is very good with that bat. I just don't think he is better than several others that deserve to be playing (as a batsman) ahead of him. My gripe is that his bowling is not good. Do you seriously think any Test batsman would feel uncomfortable with Watto running in? If you are going to play him it needs to be as a batsman only and quite honestly can anyone say he is a better batsman than a bloke like D. Hussey?

PS - I don't hate Watto by the way. If you actually read my posts you will see that i want him to do well but i just think he has been given an opportunity he hasn't earned.

So far this series, i personally have to say Watson has done better than expected and full credit too him.

If i was Watto, after all those injuries and all those missed opportunities, i would have given up, but he has kept trying and i think it's starting to pay off. I think Watto has done just aswell as Symonds or anyone else would have done in his place BUT he has to sustain this over a longer period of time, like Symonds has done, he has been our number one all rounder for quite sometime now.

If Watson keeps performing like this, I can't see him being dropped out of the side for someone else.
