I remember it well, great days, crikey if they'd sooked like a kid that the big bad other side had called them monkeys they would have copped it too, they knew how to leave stuff on the field and copped heaps too, much more than Symonds ever did.
The West Indies could give it out but they could take it too, probably why Aussies respected them so much as that's the Australian way, or should I say used to be the Australian way.

Not quite sure they always left it on the field, must have an impersonator of Viv Richards who said in media conference, "Bobby Simpson aint our cup of tea" on the 1991 Australian tour of the Windies...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

It has been revealed the Harbajhan didn't call Symonds a monkey but insulted his mother.
He was talking in an Indian tongue and said something in HIndi that sounds like "big monkey" in English
Well that makes it ok then.

Wedgie, i really think i was watching a totally different test match to your self, i may be stupid and maybe naive but im not understanding what Australia did wrong.
Can you please write out a list of errors Australia made during the test match to give you the opinion you have. Just so i can try and see if i was a little wrong in my statements. I am just completely baffled and cannont see where you are coming from at all.

The majority of people that have the opinion that Australians cheated through the test are people who have never played the game or don't have the slightest clue about the game. 90% of cricketers don't walk. Hey if you were playing footy and you were given a goal knowing it was a behind would you go up to the goal umpire and tell him it was not a goal?? Remember that Carlton v Geelong game back 2002/2003 where Peter Riccardi kicked that goal after the siren and the ball was clearly touched by the man on the mark which robbed Carlton of victory?? Were Geelong called cheats by every man and his dog?? Its the exact same thing, prehaps if any time an umpire makes a mistake we could call the team on the good end a bunch of cheats for not being honest. Australia have done nothing wrong end of story..........

Because it's a lie and to me it confirms he said it. These are grown men out there and you would not go make a formal complaint unless you were certain that comment was made. Not only that why would you have an argument with an English speaking person using your own language. My guess would be that India knew that their current story would get them no where in terms of an appeal so they make up a story that will now probably get him off.

Sorry LK. That translates into arguing on their homeground: we can think quicker in our own language, know many more clever nuances, funny put downs etc. This can be very frustrating and often it makes perfect sense to revert to your native tongue to let off steam. As I have done (rarely) in Japan in the heat of argument.

That may be the case TRB, but....if he had cracked an Indian insult back, surely it would've come out sooner than at the end of the week. They would have immediately used that as his defence.

I won't disagree DW.
It was unusual that they didn't mention this earlier. When I first heard about this a few days back my immediate reaction was which language was he speaking, and/or how good is his English?. If that's my reaction, why didn't they use it? It is such an obvious line yet they took this long to come up with it makes me think that it may well be the truth, if you follow the logic.
Anyway, I am on the fence, I really don't know if he said it or not, but they aren't doing themselves any favours with their inconsistent stories.

Sorry mate but this story is bullsh*t. Plenty of Johny Do-gooders out there saying this and that but it was said and every one knows it.As I said before these are grown men and both you and I know better to report something that we THOUGHT we heard to higher authorities.Im not saying in anyway that Australia are innocent, but ffs people need to stop being so gullible.
BTW India won't go home, their sponsors and TV coverage are to influential on their decisions and if they go home on their terms they will be liable to any legal preceedings from all parties and investors plus lets not forget the legal challenges from CA.

I love the fact that Michael Holding has waded into this, having a crack at Australia's behaviour. The man kicked a stump out of the ground FFS!
