Best and Worst recruits during our "pathetic shield years"

Postby Coach Bombay » Fri Oct 28, 2011 9:02 am

Ill start with the worst

Higgs
Flower
Elliott
Wise
Edmonson
Lang
Tubb

and not to mention Y Kahn golden duck in first shield game.

Its the culture. Piss off the knobs that run the SACA. We need players who show a bit of "C U Next Tuesday" in them. Thats why the Vics have done so well. We are too precious and its the SACA culture that has developed this. Hooksey and Boof are two that come to mind that didnt agree with some off the old wankers and look what happened to them...both shafted in the end. I remember watching a day night redbacks game where Lehmann was batting and we needed around 6-7 an over and he took his time just pushing singles and we ended up losing cos teh run rate got too high. my old man and i knew something wasnt write and that he was sending a message to the SACA saying "Im sick of doing this, its always up to me"

Flower was the worst one for me. Only stayed 1 season and gave us doughnuts......

Elliott at least toughed it out for more than 1 season

As much as Adelaide's sporting public would like Boof and Dizzy to take the reigns, they simply will not apply or be given the job due to certain people still being involved with SACA management.

Where did Adcock come from?

Elliot wasn't bad in the one dayers, never really cracked it at Shield level for us, after dominating for VIC.

Flower like Elliot was awesome in his day, but didn't do the job when he came to us.

Not a bad idea on recruiting, they just didn't produce the goods.

Picking up Ludeman was silly. And as much as I rate him, Aaron O'Brien seemed an illogical pick up, even though he's had a few solid efforts.

This is a shield related topic only. Elliot was an excellent one day player.

Miller.

Far from our worst imo.

Darren Dempsey was another.

I reckon Fleming was our worst recruit followed closely by Flower.

Younis Khan was good for the team in the short time he was here.
