Why the demise ?
Ive advocated that he may in fact be burnt out
Forget about the arm action, the duke ball, his mummy, or his girlfriend
The fact is at his peak he was bowling 145-150km consistently
Now he is a 135-140km bowler, and struggling big time

International Cricketer of the year recently, now a wreck
After that award I posted if he was to bowl that well for 5 more years he would be the equal of Alan Davidson !!!
I used to compare him with Alan Davidson, now I have to compare him with Geoffrey Attenbourough

Thats modern cricket thesedays, flat decks and potential 5-10 year fast bowlers are disintigrating
AU has been blessed with a succession of generational fast bowling greats
MCKENZIE/LILLIE/MCDERMOTT/MCGRATH
Each of the great bowlers, almost virtually took over after the others retirements
But will we ever see another great 10 year bowling great ?
The only 10 year greats we are likely to have world wide are spin bowlers thesedays
Even the great Dale Steyn is bowling below 140kms recently
Too much cricket, and too many roads is a reason why

The MJ knockers can rightly decree that his axing was vindicated
The MJ fanclub, which includes myself can oly hope he rediscovers his express best
One thing for sure, without MJ firing , AU is most likley to become a middle of the road team, and not the best

When he was bowling his best he could go both ways, at least with the new ball, see above. He will find it again, purely arm height and hence wrist position at release.

Im pretty sure he will play in perth due to the bouncy deck, we needed stump to stump bowlers for adelaide (ie harris, bollinger straightening them down the line, siddle) for perth someone who angles the ball accross is handy as there are less LBW/bowleds and more catches in the slips. As for people saying the poms learnt to leave the ball across them from MJ in the first test...that is complete BS! Trott continually slashed hard and nicked down the gully, its just brisbane was slow and they didnt go to hand. His main issue with lack of swing is with leftys, unless they get bowled they arent going to ncik them and they are constantly getting hit outside the line.

He will come good in perth IMO

He played one really good series against the SAFFIES, and was thought of as the closest thing we'd get to an all-rounder, when he was more just a lower order enforcer... Good aggressive bowling, and hard hitting with the bat...

Even if he wasn't getting it up to 150, that sucker ball at 140 is still very quick and still bloody hard to face with the angle and trejectory it's coming from.

Agreed, has never been anything more than an average bowler, who bowls a hit me ball every over who's wicket taking ball was the wide one outside off and the ball down leg side which the batsman tickled through to the keeper.

I spoke a few days too early. What we saw today is what we all know he can do. Pity we don't see it more often. It's all up the Johnson now, we need him to follow this up in the 2nd innings and for the rest of the series.
