Seriously, a professional cricketer is his occupation, an occupation with a limited lifespan. He can obviously see he is getting toward the end of the line and is now attempting to rake in some easy cash in the twilight of his career. In many other occupations, if someone was throwing bucket loads of cash at you for minimal work, the majority would chase it, id think.

As much as he would love to bust his arse for all you guys, to keep you happy, it seems he has made a logical decision to look after number 1.

He can do whatever he likes but his attitude and clear desire to do only what benefits him speaks volumes as to why he played so little for Australia.

$$$ talks again....why else would you retire mid season?

Exactly Dutchy. It would have looked worse for him had he not retired when he did because he would've have chosen the IPL over the Shield final. Always thinking of himself and no-one else.

And I would suggest the only reason he played the first couple of months of the Shield season was to get the Victorian all-time runs record.
