England vs Australia-1st T20 Intl.

Postby Gozu » Sun Aug 30, 2009 6:17 pm

This is the first of two Twenty/20 games against England starting tonight at 10:30pm on Fox. It will be interesting to see how Dirk Nannes goes as he seems to be one of the best T20 bowlers in the world.

Dirk is a disgrace and should not be playing for Australia.

AU 4/145[20]
WATSON 10[14]
WARNER 33 [26]
CLARKE 27[34]
THE DAVE 0[2]
WHITE 55 [36]
VOGES 11[8]

The great shame of the innings is our best current Test batsman struggles in 20/20
Michael Clark 27 off 34 balls with 1 boundary
Cameron White made 28 more and faced 2 balls more

My advice to the selectors is let Micky and Lara have a honeymoon and let Michael come back and play the 50 over games where he is a good batsman

Mitchell Johnson would be a better alternative at 3

Travis Birt would be a sensation in 20/20 cricket

Broad bowled well again 2/33

145
EG should just sneak home

Hopefully Dutchy Nannes bowls well

He seems like a mercenary.

One minute playing for Holland the next its Australia.

He also chose to play for his IPL team over Victoria.

He probably realises he doesnt have that long left in the game and needs to make as much coin as he can, while he can.

It always seems to rains when Australia reigns.

FWIW DIRK NANNES
I can see why RoosterMarty is all steamed up over Dirk Nannes being selected
Any player who deserts his state team to play IPL should not on principle be selected for AU
Let him chase the $$$ and get some financial security in life, but to select him for AU ...NO [-X

I have no problems with him wanting to play at the highest level and if he can play for another country then good on him i would love to represent my country or ancestors country at the highest level.

I dont agree with him chasing cash and getting selected! However we cry when we dont select our best team and loose and cry when we do pick the best team

I think it is a weak loop-hole in the system, didn't Andrew Symonds have to decide whether to represent England or sit out of international cricket until Australia were willing to give him a cap. Have the rules changed since.

Dirk Nannes elected to play for the Netherlands only after he was not selected for Australia. He gave the Aussies his comittment and then when we said no I think he very reasonably decided that in perhaps his only chance to play international cricket and play in a world cup that he would take up an offer to do so. I can't see how anyone can have a crack at him for that.

As for playing for Delhi I have a feeling most aussies have said they would play for their IPL sides, and the way it's been said I even get the feeling it's a part of their contract agreements. Perhaps they all signed these agreements before there even was a champions league and now it's a case of them having to fulfil their contract obligations. Pretty sure Mike Hussey was going to play for Chennai instead of WA before the last one was cancelled.
