FWIW I reckon McDonald will go to England, whether he see's much/any game time, Im not sure.

my problem with mcdonald in the team is that he is exactly the type of player england were playing all through the 90s - someone who can bat a bit and bowl a bit but isnt generally good enough at either to be in the - players like chris lewis, mark ealham, ben and adam holliokeand many more

We would be stupid not to take McDonald, he bowls stump to stump and swings the ball. The Duke ball swings alot more. Should be picked before Hilf.

You got to be kidding Ned, McDonald won't get picked before Hilfenhaus!!

They will both get picked, but Hilfenhaus will get the nod before McDonald, no issues there.

McDonald out bowled Hilfenhaus in South Africa, can bat at 7 with Haddin at 6 to play the extra bowler ( maybe A spinner ). Ronnie makes the batsman play every ball and will be suited to the english conditions similar to Allderman was by bowling stump to stump and swinging the ball. Hilf bowls quicker than Ronnie but is predictable bowls a gentle out swinger and makes the batsman play at 2 balls a over. Hilf bats at 10 or 11.

Hilf wasn't great BUT his figures do him absolutely no justice. For his debut series he bowled fine.
