I still can not believe you do not want to put Hughes in your best 11. I know you did not agree with his selection to start with but surely the past fortnight he has been good enough for you to admit you were wrong?

Test

Phillip Hughes
Simon Katich
Ricky Ponting
Michael Clarke
Michael Hussey
Marcus North
Brad Haddin
Mitchell Johnson
Brett Lee
Peter Siddle
Stuart Clark

12th Man- Bryce McGain
13th Man- Ben Hilfenhaus

This is the side for wickets with a bit in them for pace bowling but if we have wickets such as Adeliade and Sydney and others i woulod have McGain in every time. On Current form it would be for lee or Clark obviously but i just depends on who is bowling well. Crucial that we have a spinner in the mix IMO and would probably play 2/3 out of 5 tests on tour.

I think Clark still has the runs on the board over Hilfenhaus and deserves to go to England if he is fit. I really tossed up between leaving Lee out of the side especially with his recent poor record in England but i honestly think he deserves the chance to have one last crack and to be frank i still think he is better than Hilfenhaus at this stage of his career. Hilf has shown a fair bit but i think Lee still has his nose in front.

Other players that would be close are Ferguson (Especially if Hussey continues his run of form for the next month), McDonald will still be touring IMO.

Who is going to bowl all the overs? I guess it is your ideal line-up but in all seriousness Hodge is past international cricket.

Glovework alone Paine and Manou are the 2 best with Haddin next Folowed by Hartely Ronc's and Wade is a long way behind them.

Batting wise Haddin is streets ahead Paine next easily with 1 day hundreds 4 day hundreds and a double hundred. Wade hearts and ronc's next and even though Manou has had few solid seasons with the bat he still isn't as consistant and prob wouldn't be picked for batting alone but has improved greatly.

So I think paine is next cab off the rank.

LMAO RONCHI   He isnt even getting a game for WA. The best keepers IMO are in this order. Manou, Hartley, Haddin, Wade, Paine (i would nearly go as far as having wade and paine ahead of haddin) and daylight - then Ronchi.

Batting wise and consistency, Manou is 2nd behind Haddin going on the last couple of years (not looking at the s*** start he had to his career, hislast 2 years have been great), Wade is improving but still behind and has looked the real deal as a 21year old, then i would say Paine just ahead of an ever improving Hartley with the bat.

Paine has only made 1 ton in 53 first class innings with 4 not outs. He has 11 50's. Average of 30.04 in first class and 34 in the one dayers. (24 years of age)

Wade has made 2 tons and 4 fifties in 27 innings with 5 not outs. Average of 36.81 (21 years of age)

Manou has made 5 tons and 15 fifties in 149 innings and 16 not outs. Has an average of 24.51 and one day average of 21. (29 years of age)

Hartley has made 3 tons and 15 fifties in 80 innings with 13 innings with an average of 28.44 and one day ave of 20.25 (26 years of age)

and district cricketer RONCHI has scored 3 tons and 9 fifties in 59 innings with 7 not outs. Average for four day is 33.07 and one day is a shitty 26 (and he played for australia thats a joke) (nearly 28 years of age)

So IMO if they are going to bypass Manou, i would like them to go Wade. He will be a long term player for Australia IMO. Paine is good but i would prefer Wade as a batter and keeper. Hartley could get the gig because his batting is now taking off, is a great keeper and is only 26 years of age. Ronchi is carp

You cant compare Manou and Paines records as Paine is 25 and played 30 games, compare Manou at the same age. There is your answer.

we are talking about who is going to either tour england or step up now if haddin was to get injured. Thats why im comparing them now.

I think we should have a rule whenever this debate comes up. We should be specific about whether we are talking about:

1 Who would step in if Haddin got injured in the next 12 months (for 1-2 tests only)
2 Who will replace Haddin when he finishes

They don't have to be the same keeper and I don't think they are.
In between signatures .....

Where does A.Crosswait come in, I know he dosn't keep for the Vics at the moment because they have gone with Wade in the 4 day game. I think he is a handy keeper batsmen. Rumor is he may be off to interstate next season with W.A being the team mentioned.

crosswaite IMO is a real good keeper and very handy in the one dayers. when he has played in the 4 day comp he has played as a batter and batter 5 or 6. I would not be suprised to see him leave and makes sense its too wa as they have no real standout keeper

I dont think it would be a bad move for Adam to switch states, he really has the potential to be a fantastic keeper batsmen at State Level and possibly command selection at a higher level with 2-3 years solid work on his batting.

Personally i hope he stays in Victoria but would not surprise me if he left for a regular first class spot.

Watching the shield final, an interesting point was talked about with the last RH opening bat being slater. They then talked about a game of the left handers v the right handers. (australians that is). This goes on what they do as there main art eg: bracken is a lefty but bats right.

The side could look something like this (test match):

Left Handers

Hughes
Rogers
Katich (c)
M.Hussey
North
Carlsedine
Wade (wk)
Johnson
Bracken
Bollinger
Nannes

12th man: P. Jaques

Right Handers

Klinger
D.Harris
Ponting (c)
Clarke
Hodge
Symonds
Haddin (wk)
A.Noffke
Hauritz
Siddle
Hilfenhaus

12th Man: A.McDonald
