I'd rather D. Hussey than M. Hussey at the moment.
what's with moving him to No. 4??
shoulders arms every ball, like when the aussies tried to move Bevan up the order, best off at 6 or 7, slap late in the innings or can play his slow, boring knock if 5 for bugger all..

Also with Hopes at 8, he's basically playing as a bowler!!??!! (even tho he made runs today).. not a bowlers a...hole
Selectors struggling a bit I think...

White batted at 7.

Some will disagree but I've never seen any evidence that David Hussey is an international cricketer. White and Hilfenhaus don't inspire either.

Hilfenhaus can bowl and bowl very very well. He's still finding his feet. White i agree with and D. Hussey is yet to convince me although i do think he has the talent.

Hilf's been really, really disappointing. No movement through the air at all. IMO trying to bowl too fast.

My team:

Hughes
Marsh
Ponting
Hussey
Hussey
Haddin (growing tired of his rash strokes)
Hopes
Johnson
Krejza (we NEED a spinner)
Bracken
Hilf

Was I the only person watching this game wondering why Ponting didn't take the batting power-play while he was set? He looked in very good touch, thought he might've taken some responsibility, but perhaps not. Leave the big hitting to Hilfenhaus at Number 10.

Good point about the batting power play, Pag. It was totally wasted with only Hopes, Hilfenhaus and Tait to use it. They have to use it while there are some batsmen available. With the field in, maybe then shots like Haddin's ordinary slog sweep fall safe rather than go straight down a fielder's throat!

yep i mentioned it to a few people during the game - ther ewere 2 times in the innings that the powerplay could have been taken. 1 when ponting nad m hussey were going ok and towards teh end when white and hopes were starting to look ok.

by taking it when ponting and hussey were in it would have put a fair bit of pressure back on south africa as botha wouldnt have been able to get through his overs for only 28 and neither morkel had started particularly well and kallis couldnt bowl so the timing wouldve been perfect. listening to a few radio interviews after the game the south africans said they felt they started to get the upperhand from the first drinks break.

whilst we are on about poor power plays by ponting - why on earth did he take the bowling power play in the south african innings? the game was never going to go for more than 45 overs with such a small target so he wouldve been much better off not using
