THE DAVE + FLUKE RONCHI amazing efforts

Postby mal » Mon Jul 07, 2008 10:49 am

Australian cricket is in good hands in the o/d arena
Malpals THE DAVE HUSSEY and FLUKE RONCHI decimated the WI in the 5th o/d game

AU 8/341
WI 172

RONCHI 50[22] then 64[28]
HUSSEY 50[19]then 52[21]

Sensational
Both only playing thier 2nd o/d innings for AU

These are the fastest 50s for AU

18 BALLS..... ODDONNELL V SL
19 BALLS..... THE DAVE V WI
22 BALLS...... FLUKE V WI + MARTYN V BA

THE DAVES 50 was the 5th fastest in the world.

Yeah well spotted Rod
I originally posted THE DAVES 50[21] which was the total innings when dismissed.
I have ammended my original opening post thanks

Sad part about HUSSEY/RONCHI is despite those efforts they both might be out of the team next o/d game

HADDIN deserves his spot
HAYDEN ???
PONTING will play

That means HUSSEY/RONCHI/MARSH get dropped ?

whatever happens, whoever plays it will be a good team
Im just amazed how Australia has rebuilt a team after the recent retirements of several champions

Haddin would need to perform though.
First time we would have considered someone not B Haddin to possibly be the next long term keeper.

Yep, I'm all about Ronchi.
Stuff Haddin. He's getting on in years now anyway.
Give someone a chance who'll be around for the next decade.

HADDIN v RONCHI

This is where I would place them.

20/20 GAMES : RONCHI
50 OVER GAMES : HADDIN OR RONCHI
TESTS : HADDIN

Its unfortunate about Ronchi getting a gig.
In recent times it was GILCHRIST 'keeping' out HADDIN
Now it might be HADDIN 'keeping' out RONCHI

They are both sensational cricketers

Interested on your opinion Mal - who do you think is the best 'keeper (in terms of gloveman keeping wicket, not factoring in batting) out of Gilchrist/Haddin/Ronchi?

There was a fair bit of criticism over the years of Gilchrist's keeping - I think much of this was unwarranted, Glichrist proved to be much more than just a servicable 'keeper. Do you think that selectors focus too much on batting skill rather than keeping skill?

GLOVE WORK
RATINGS OUT OF 10
5 RATINGS ARE BORDERLINE

gilCHRIST 6-5
HADDIN 7-5
RONCHI ??? On his games in the WI about 8

If gilCHRIST was a keeper that averaged about 25/30 as most keepers do with the bat he might have been dropped.
gilCHRISTs batting was what kept him in the team
His average keeping was insignificant as he would be the matchwinner so often with the bat

Dont get tooo carried away Mal.
it's ONLY the Windies they have been playing.

As good a player as Hussey is, Geeeeeeez, even i would've made 50 against that rubbish bowling at the end of the innings. Gayle was bowling rank FULL tosses a foot outside leg stump.
