Is KJ O'Keefe good for cricket commentary

I personally think so. When side A is batting from overs 20-40, there is time for his humour and fun

Often he overdoes it during Tests - but what the hell??

His "laugh/snigger" at times adds to it - again long as it's not overdone

Any thoughts Folks?

Kerry O'Keeffe is extremely entertaining. I like to hear him on the radio. There are no Alan McGilvrays around any more, so rather than bore the crap out us they may as well make us laugh. In between the jokes, there are times when he offers incisive commentary on the game. O'Keeffe - good for commentary - good for cricket.

I think he is very entertaining and I love it when he comes out with his little "pearlers" that get the rest of the commentators and those others in the box laughing - even thoguh they try hard not too.

He is a very funny after dinner speaker too - you get to see all his facial animations as well as his laugh!

I think he is very immature, but better than Terry Jenner. And Stacky.

Let's face it, having decided that former "greats" (and I use that term very loosely) are an integral part of cricket broadcasting (for reasons that are still not obvious to me), there isn't much else out there.

Hes the "Rex Hunt" of cricket commentary. What he says and how he says it becomes bigger than whats happening in the game itself.

I always quite enjoyed Stackpole as a commentator. Another favourite was Tim Lane, although i presume as a ch 10 footy commentator he no longer is available to the ABC.

Skull is the most entertaining commentator bar none and as already mentioned, a great guest speaker at sports nights etc.

I hate him, only reason I don't listen to the ABC commentary is because I'm scared I'll cop him.
I'd rather hear about the cricket, if I wanted to hear about O'Keefe I'd put on 6 O'Clock rock.

I think he's great, cricket commentary can be pretty dry on the radio and he gives it some spice. Although i guess he wouldn't be the best person to be commentating in the last over of a world cup final, but he gives the coverage some life (and he dosn't shit on about the great Terry Graham in 1903 nearly as much as alot of the commentators do.

He's great. Very funny and has a good knowledge of the game. Always entertaining to hear him with the guest commentator from overseas. ABC Radio is always a good listen, particularly since Greg Chappell has left and gone to India.

I bet you wouldn't be too keen to bring up the subject of KOK around Kenneth George

Think he's good for commentary and if he does do some things that are seen as trying to draw attention to himself, well he'll be in good company with the other 80 percent in the media that do it.
