OVERSEAS FAST BOWLERS 1960-2007 IN AUSTRALIA
_______________________________________________

YEARS...TESTS...WKTS...AVE

60S........30.......245......36-98
70S........44.......449......30-92
80S........54.......585......30-17
90S........56.......635......34-48
2000+.....45.......358......50-14

The opposition fast bowlers for whatever reasons are less successful in Australia since 2000.

BEST PERFORMED FAST BOWLERS IN AUSTRALIA SINCE 2000
___________________________________________________

This list absolutely shocked me

WKTS...AVE....BOWLER

14.......29-54...NEL
16.......29-93...DILLON
11.......30-36...AKHTAR
18.......32-67...FLINTOFF
20......34-50....CADDICK
16.......43-18...AGARKAR
11.......43-72...WALSH

the list also includes

10.......45-50...CAIRNS
16.......46-88...POLLOCK
23.......50-86...HARMISON

Its interesting since 2000

50-14 OPPOSITION
26-76 AUSTRALIA

The AU figure is due to a freakish performer Glen Mcgrath and his side kicks GILLESPIE/CLARK
LEE is about the mark
But they all did well because of S K WARNE giving them all a rest between spells
Without some of these freakish bowlers AU will obviously struggle in the near future

SRI LANKA
_________

Win the toss put AU in at the GABBA
Left out MALinga in Brisbane
Before the Hobart test MALinga was the most successful bowler in AU since 2000

His record before HOBART

10 WICKETS
26-40 AVERAGE

He now has

12 WICKETS
40-08 AVE approximately

Quotes from hayden on cricinfo

***Matthew Hayden conquered the MCG with his sixth Test hundred in the stadium before calling it the toughest surface he had batted on for two years"

***"We lost a few too many wickets, but it was difficult enough and those conditions will be revealed over the next four days," Hayden said. "The fact is we are facing a difficult wicket. The score is definitely a par effort

***It was one of my best Test hundreds because of the conditions we had at hand[/i][/i]

It really is a batsmans world if Hayden and Co are complaining about that deck yesterday. Yeah it was slow but seriously it was hardly a land mine- it was as white as my christmas turkey. I hop hes just trying to put some doubt in the indians mind (as well as pumping his own tyres  ). I usually judge a pitch and an opposition attack on the ratio of batsman error to "genuine" dismisals. yesterday i think there were only two dismissals which werent batsman error (ponting and hussey)- the pitch cant have been that bad.
