Do we really think that this all out Pace is really going to rattle the Indians as much as everyone thinks. Personally i dont see Dravid, Laxman, Ganguly, Tendaulker and Dhoni being so easily blasted out.

This series may be a bit closer than we all think.

Getting a little carried away IMO.

Firstly since when has Jimmy Maher been a world class batsmen?

Most Destructive bowler the game has seen since Curtly Ambrose? No not yet, he bowled very very well but can hardly be put in the same class as the likes of Ambrose, Donald, Ahktar and co just yet.

It's easy to underrate Australian domestic players. Had Maher been born in any other country he would have played a lot of International cricket and he would have been successful.

Agree. I dont rate many players outside australia. We could field a 2nd side and it would win at home and be competive away.

the fact india play only 1 warm up game in our conditions is a huge disadvantage. i think it will be hard fought series. gangully will b one player we target with bouncers so will sachin. I think there has to be a very strong argument to play without a spinner and on this occasion there is one

i can see this turning into a kasprowicz gillespie ahead of lee situation of a few years back. lee was in great shape but couldnt get a game. Traditionally Australian selectors are reluctant to drop players who have done nothing wrong for players who are in irrisistable form. Somthing tells me Tait should play. To set the tone of the series. what india will least want to face is lee and tait. imagine seeing of lee and then tait replaces him

Well i would be interested to see a proposed second side. I am not as confident as you. Especially considering Tait may be in the Test Side for Boxing day.

Just quickly off the top of my head i reckon this side might go alright.

C.Rogers
M.DiVenuto
S.Katich
D. Hussey
B.Hodge
J.Hopes
B.Haddin
A.Noffke
G.Hogg
B.Hilfenhaus
S.Tait

I'm sure i've missed someone obvious (and yes i'm very aware Shane Watson isn't in that side) but even so that is a pretty good lineup. So much depth in both bowling and batting.

That is right. Dravid has faced up to that sort of bowling before and done a good job. He is not a batsmen you can intimidate. Same with Tendaulker and Laxman.

Firstly I do not under-estimate the Indian batsmen (Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman and Ganguly) as they all ahve great records - in teh case of both dravid and Tendulkar 9000 test runs is no fluke.

However these blokes are not the batsmen they were 4 years ago and they are currently playing against Pakistan on sub-continent pitches. In less than four weeks they are going to have to face Lee, Clark and (hopefully Tait) on our pitches.....

Its a big ask for them to adjust with only one lead up game prior to the first test.

Without Warne we'll struggle but I still think we'll win
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

You are right it is a decent side but considering we all want Tait in the next side. Who will replace him? Nathan Bracken would have to IMO.

I see the batting as particularly strong with Hodge, Haddin and Katich.

It is debatable whether Rogers, Hussey and DiVenuto are up to it particularly the latter 2. Hopes is not an adequate number 6 and would probably come in after Haddin.

If you take out Tait and replace him with Bracken, then you have a bowling attack of Bracken, Noffke, Hilfenhaus and Hogg or MacGill with Hopes to bowl a bit as well. Personally i dont see that side bowling out too many International sides twice in 5 days. Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and maybe New Zealand but thats about it IMO

You could be right with Haddin and Hopes swapping around. I based this side on guys who did not play in our last Test side. If Tait goes up then you would probably look at Bracken, Gillespie and Bollinger. Those guys would be playing for almost all other Test playing nations. Seriously think about it. The second and third ranked test sides are Sri Lanka and England at the moment i think. I reckon all three of those guys would walk into both sides. Perhaps you'd pick Malinga ahead of Bollinger but that's about it.

As for the batting i'm not sure what the doubts are on D.Hussey. The guy is a super player. He would make runs at the highest level no doubt. Just a shame there isn't a spot for him at the moment.

This side might not smash other Test sides but they would be more than competitive and probably be better than most.
